My 200e7 handle seems to be loose. It is not the Anti reverse but the handle its self. I have never taken it off, or messed with the nut that keeps it tightened down. Is it possible for it to loosen over time? Can I just solve this by taking the cap off and then tightening the nut down. Do I have to worry about over tightening the nut or should I just get it as tight a possible?

Mine is also like that. Been like that from day one.

Maybe I never noticed it before. But that would make sense. I just don't want to tighten the nut down to tight and mess any thing else up if it is supposed to be that way.

Could have been caused by a slight tolerance change in the drag stack over break in time.

Remove the handle nut cap use the reels wrench, or, 11MM nut driver to tighten the nut then replace the cap.

The handle and drag stack are on seperate areas of the crank shaft. Drag wear will not cause a loose handle, otherwise everytime you tightened the drag, and compressed the drag stack you would have a loose handle.

I do agree that he needs to remove the cap and tighten the nut.

And no, you don't want to jack it so tight you strip the threads - just medium tight and then align the nut so the screw on the cap will align. Shimano reels have always had a little back play in the handle, maybe just due to the anti-reverse bearing they use. No biggie.

Tolerances (drag spring washers, drag pads, shims, etc.) do change as the reels crank/drag and cast control assemblies brake in and settle.

As I stated before, tighten the drags star slightly, now remove the handle nut cap.

Use the provided wrench, or a 11mm nut driver. Tightn the handle nut slightly until you get no more rocking.

Replace the nut cap your good to go.

Your correct they absolutely wear, but have nothing to do with his handle being loose, which was the reason you posted the information. I am sure it was just an oversight on YOUR part.

Never had this problem with the Curado or ANY baitcast reel. Have had it in spinning reels though after several years of heavy use, with reels as expensive as a Shimano Symetre.

I tightened up the nut and the handle feels really solid now.
