I started with the E Series Citica, and it was love at first cast so I decided to buy another Shimano. I went to BPS and looked at the G Series Citica and Curado. After a lengthy inspection these were my impressions......

The G Series Curado Is NOT built on the Caenan body...... it is close, but there are some slight differences in the lines. I went over the reel with a fine tooth comb and it seemed smooth and the quality looked pretty good. at this point I ask the clerk to pull a lefty out for me to check as the one in the showcase was a righty. I unwrapped it and turned the handle, and thought, OK. Then I depress the thumb bar, and at this point I do not feel very good. It was very stiff, and made a unappealing sound. I tell him to pull another, and guess what....... the same thing. I try the last one they had, and bingo this one works nice and smooth with no unpleasant sounds.

The guy thought I was nuts till I told him to try all three, and tell me which one he would buy. Well, he tried them and he looked at me and said "WOW". He could not believe the difference in the three reels.

At this point, I'm not buying the G Series as I did not feel the quality was consistent, and for $159.00 it should be. I now have him pull three Chronachs from the shelf, and all three were spot on perfect. Needless to say, I came home with a Chronach 201E7.....

My E Series Citica is by far a better reel than the G Series Carado, at least in my eyes. I'm sure my Citica, and Chronach will give me many years of trouble free enjoyment.

Well I know they're based on the Canean but there could be differences. Can't say I'm surprised that someone else doesn't like the G series. Knew this would happen when I saw one of the G reels for the first time. They just aren't as nice.

Its not "built on" the canen body. It shares the same body form or related design. Glsd to hear you like the chronarch.

The Caenan body is graphite, But the design is the same. We'll I can't see much difference between them.

My buddy has a couple G series and E series, I have several E series myself. The G just doesn't seem to be in the same category with the E series. Not saying they're bad reels, I just feel they're overpriced for the reel you're getting. Thankfully you can still find the E series all over online.
