Hey guys, looks like I'll be in Boca for a few days end of October. What are the options for fishing? Either bass, snook, or tarpon? Fill me in please. :)

October means the mullet run, it's difficult to express in words what that means. We get a variety of fish coming into the area, both in the ocean and the ICW (intra coastal waterway), my personal passion is the beach. Lady fish are very abundant, great fighters that can strip out a ton of line. Bluefish have a strong pair of shoulders, jaws like steel and can bite lures in half. Jack Crevelles, the ultimate warrior, the small ones are fun, once you get to 20# I put my money on the fish or just to tired to catch more than 1 or 2. I have had to run after them for 1/4 mile or more to avoid being spooled, nothing outfights a jack. There is always snook and tarpon. It's common place to have a fish on line, lose it and get 3 or 4 more strikes before you have reeled in. All you really want to use are bucktails, spoons and gotchas, topwaters are fun but they won't last too long. Spanish mackerel show up then too, the rougher the weather the better for these species, if the wind is down and water is calm, that's barracuda time, 40-50" fish are common.

I would try to fish Stick Marsh/ Farm 13 with George Welcome if you have time.

I hit a Boca beach this morning this is what we are getting and the mullet run hasn't started, had this jack been a few pounds bigger I may not have landed it. I left the location data on the pic, it's called Jap Rock You have nice bass at home, do something different, get a guide in the keys for tarpon.
