i suggest using round rubber if your going to do a finesse jig. When i first started tying finesse jigs i was using silicone skirts. It just didnt look right. I started using round rubber and got the look i wanted. Other than that, looking good. Just to let you know, it gets very very addicting.

I always prefer wire tie.

Thanks for the info!

How do I get the colors to stay more separated like an Eakins Jig?

I really like that shiny head!!

Good job.

Nice jig.

What is the hook size?

If you are wire tying, tie the first go round a little loose and you can separate the colors by hand a little better. You can use 24 gauge wire and have a smaller bundle around the neck, if you do that it will get more flare out of the skirt. Looks good for your first one though. It does get addicting though.

Very nice!

When I build them I always epoxy the weedgaurd in first. Then tie/band. If you want them separated more try and put the hook in the middle of skirt. You might have to pull them side to side for separation.

I am already addicted, I am sure this will not make my wife too happy......

Great colors. Would destroy smallmouth here in Pennsylvania. Like someone mentioned- you can NOT beat living rubber when compared to silicon... especially for a finesse jig. Also, a tip, try alternating the lengths... so... 3'' silicon in your colors should make up about 50% of the jig- and 4'' lengths of living rubber should make up the other 50% to spruce it up and really let that living rubber umbrella out. This is just a tip- but one that produces when I tie jigs.

Love the tips, and suggestions for new colors to use with the copper jig head?

I plan on it. I am thinking about customizing jigs to match trailers. This one matches my green pumpkin chigger craw perfectly

throw those chigger craws away and get some Rage Craws. I used to be a Chigger Craw guy, then the Rage craw took over. I dont think i own a single chigger craw anymore. Sometimes when they want a more subtle trailer, ill use a Paca Craw.
