Sometime ago, maybe a year, I asked how far S I could go to fish most of the year and still be into smallies(I live in Oregon), and also large smallies. We have smallies but they aren't very big and we don't fish Nov. thru Mar. I have also posted a couple of times when I came close to a 5# smallie, which mark I have never broken. The consensus about the best place was Tennessee and I took it to heart and spent the interim in research. Two lakes stand out: Dale Hollow and Pickwick. Property prices made Dale hollow an easy pick. So next week my place goes on sale and when that is accomplished I'll be moving to Dale Hollow. Thanks to all who responded to my search.

By the by, a 5# smallie is no longer on my hit list. I now want a 7.

Good luck... get it.! Probable the first cast will be the lucky one.

Reelfoot is on the other side of the state. Once you get settled plan on fishing it just once. That is one weird lake.

i love dale, im down there several times a year. ill be down next week to get in on the fall action,i stay at star point and love the place...... it has a spot in my heart foreverand one day ill reside there also.

Good luck. I fish Dale Hollow regularly and I fished it yesterday... tough is an understatement! It has a huge learning curve and once you think you have things figured out, he throws a day like yesterday at you. LOL. Even the bad days will make you want to come back though.

That is very true. Anything over 10 mph and I have water coming over the bow when headed into oncoming waves. Have only used it three times so far. Got lucky and had a calm day when I took it to Reelfoot Lake in my toyhauler camper. Wind has blown steadily here since Aug 2011 at 15-25 nearly everyday. Never seen that before here in Tn over my last 50 years!

Good luck, but hate to see you move that extra time. As you will not be at the Hollow long then you you will be moving to Pickwick. Be it the Al section or the Tn section. But it will be Pickwick. You have the lake and then the best of the best the River below the dam. Year around Small Mouth Heaven that can't be topped.
