Glx Vs Legend Elite

Featured Replies

I am looking for a new light jig rod and am looking at these 2 rods. I've never had a GLX spinning rod so I'm just wondering how the 2 compare. As far as warranty I've been hearing that loomis is a pain to deal with, is this true?

Any info or opinions on these rods would be appreciated.

thanks

I have both. I think they are comparable and the St. Croix is a little less expensive.

Specifically, I would recommend the LES70MF.

I figured you'd be the first to comment:)

is the croix as sensitive as the glx? I can get either one for $275 new so cost isn't an issue. I have a 843 and 844 glx and love them and I also have had a couple LEs and they are nice also.

Gosh, you already have rods to compare. GLX spinning equipment is no

different than baitcasting other than the traits of specific blanks.

I have a les68mxf and like it a lot. I also have another rod, that costs WAY less that I like better!

thats kinda how I have felt when I used a LE they always seem nice but not to the level of the GLX, it just drives me nuts that Loomis sold out to a foreign company.

Atleast they are still Made in the USA! That and Shimano is a great parent company to be partnered with.

Anyways, I got a few of both and I have a hard time telling which is more sensative. The Loomis NRX on the other hand gets a nod over both, although I don't own one, just first hand experience from fishing with my partner's.

I agree about the Nrx but I'm looking for a light weight jig rod for 1/16-3/8 oz jigs for walleye. I think I'm gonna go with the wjr751s glx

And he sets the hook...

Let me guess ... A Pinnacle?

I'm guessing Elite Tech lol

By the way, If your looking for a really sensitive versatile spinning rod the NRX 822SYR is really good. Although your walleye fishing so I can't say much about that.

I pitch jigs all spring and fall for walleye. i'm generally always using 1/16-5/16. 90% of the time i'm using 3/32-3/16 pitching jigs/plastics to wingdams, rip rap and sand. I'm very particular with this rod as I enjoy doing more than anything. I use the xtreme 69mlxf and it works perfect. I've handed the 68mxf and it's a good rod but it's a rod built for mono /w walleye jigs with its backbone. the mlxf is more suited for superlines. both will "work" with each line but one suits the other better. if you're using weights up to 3/8 it'd opt for the 822 over a 1 power. the 822 handles 3/32 (didn't go down to 1/16 but i'd assume it would work) just fine and up to 3/8 as well fine. I wouldn't go over 1/4 maybe 5/16 depending on line and plastic/minnow size with the 751 because it will lose it's tip productivity. the 70mlf would be a great choice as well if you want to go the Elite route over the xtreme. Again, if you are going mono, the 68mxf would be a better choice. The st. croixs will more backbone feel as their tips are faster and the glx's in the 1/2 power will have a little more power throughout the entire rod as opposed to the upper bottom 2/3.

The 751 is a mag-lite that's why I'm looking at it. It has a very similar action to the 822 it's just shorter. It has a really soft tip but lots of backbone. 90% of the time I use 1-8 or 1/4 oz jigs, which the 751 looks perfect for. Right now I use a grandt 6' med and it works good but it doesn't have a soft enough tip for the lighter weight jigs.

It is my Pinnacle. I guarantee you if I blindfolded you and you caught a fish on both my les and my Pinnacle you would see yourself. Hook, line and sinker. Or whatever you wanna call it

Jeff

I am quite familar with the g loomis and St Croix rods as I have 6 of each. I have both IMX and GLX in the G loomis line and all my ST Croix are Legend Tournament Bass except for one Avid. For a light jig rod I have the WPJR821S GLX, like it, and highly recommend it as a light jig rod. The amount of backbone in a light power rod is surprising. I also had the 6'3'' GLX rod but prefer the longer rod. My vote goes to G loomis but St Croix makes a great rod too.

I also own nrx's, glx's & an ES70mf St.Croix. I perfer the g.loomis's
