Have A 7:1:1 Reel & Getting A 6'10"-7' Med Hev. Fast Rod, What Would You Use This For? Can This Be Used For Topwaters?

For me personally that would be an excellent blade bait set-up, and will be fine for topwaters, for topwaters I use an XF action, you just cant yank them in, get a solid sweeping hookset (Not to hard, and not too fast) and make sure to play the fish well.

For shallow square bills, you can get away with crankbaits, and you can get away with Rattle-traps, but it's not ideal IMO

A 7:1:1 for shallow? I mostly use kvd 1.5s will they work on there until i can get a cranking setup?

Yes, shallow cranks dont pull near enough resistance to warrant a low speed reel, where it's almost necessary for deep divers due to lower torque and wrist fatigue

So treble hooks will be okay with this right? Sorry for all the questions haha

It will work, just make sure to play the fish and dont horse him in.

I throw traps with a 6'10" MH-F Cara often, and it handles them pretty well. Different rod manufacturers can throw you off though, my St Croix 7' MH-F is nothing like my Cara though it sounds similar on paper, and is far from ideal for cranks.

I throw traps on a 7' M/F St.Croix Mojo and it works just fine. Like BC said just take your time and don't horse them in and don't swing for the fences on the hookset. I like the stiffer, faster rod than "normal" for my traps because it makes it easier to rip them out of the grass where I like to fish them at.

The rod can be used for anything you like. When you buy your next rod consider

one with Moderate Action for treble hook lures. A perfect example is a St. Croix

Avid AVC66MM.

couldn't have said it better myself

If you use it for traps change or modify the hooks. Rattl trap (the original Bill Lewis) are notorious for pulling out of the fish's mouth, the fast action won't help that, it will make it worse. Throwing a half or three quarter ounce on a mf rod works IMO because you are at the upper end of the rod's rating, in other words the rod is ready to or already flexing, a mhf won't work as well, much stiffer than mf rod. IMO you would be better off with a MH medium fast rod, this would cover your applications and provides a good middle ground, adequate for the scenarios you described, especially if you are planning to do much treble hook presentations. Good luck
