Ten-Buck A-Rigs

Featured Replies

My local Dick's Sporting Goods has the 5-arm Rig and the Yumbrella both for $9.99 on an unadvertised "red tag" sale. Not sure if all of them do, but I thought I'd let you guys know.

Even though I'm not a big fan of them (and agree 100% that they shouldn't be allowed in tournament fishing) I figured I should have a couple in the boat next year in case the need should arise when a school of stripers is feeding and the largemouth bite is slow.

Too much money for those useless things as far as Im concerned. But hey, thats just my opinion.

I make my own for about $2 a piece out of JB Waterweld and surveyor flags.  Youtube has plenty of videos on the subject although some are better than others.

Totally agree 100% ! Ive never used them, and never will, just dont understand the need for them.Fishin is a one bait to one fish deal. Not 5 to 1. Might as well throw a net out?

I'm not a proponent of the Alabama Rig, but consider this- You still have to be in the right spot, during the right conditions, and in the end ya got to get 'em to bite.

X2

Reminds me of the dreaded "Japanese Long Lines" that have decimated fish populations in the oceans.   If I wanted to use a "seine", I  would!!  Is  ONE fish at a time not enough??

Sorry, But I think this is the WRONG direction for SPORT fishing!

Just my opinion!

To each their own, but I agree for me it's useless.  The A-rig is nothing new, striper guys been using them for ages, even for stripers it isn't that much fun trolling them.  The times I've caught 2 bass at the same time using a drop fly rig or a double fluke rig (which I'm not overly fond of either) the bass seem to swim in unison negating much of the fight I may have had with just one fish on.  I also do not care to use rods big enough to handle the additional lure weight.

My friends have all converted to ultra light versions that can be fished on

any jig rod. I think The Rig is both fun and effective. All of the fish I have

caught have been on the interior hook. I have seen lots of multiple fish

hooked up on the internet, but never on the water.

Where did u find an ultra light rig road warrior?

I have a buddy in Alabama that actually makes them, but they are very similar to the Yum Yumbrella

Flash Mob Junior:

The A rig is far from being like pulling a net through the water. It was great during the winter months when the shad were schooled up but then it has been completely ineffective since late spring. It's just a bait, just like other baits, you have to use them in the right place at the right time or you'll just be flinging a bait that snags on everything and weighs a ton for no reason. I've seen tv shows and youtube videos of doubles and triples but every fish I've ever caught on them were just single fish. It's crazy how hard fish hit it when they bite too.
