Can't Find .22 Ammo

Featured Replies

What in the world?  I can't find .22lr at Wal-Mart, BPS, Cabela's, Cheaper Than Dirt, or a couple of other online ammo suppliers.  Does anyone know of a web site that I can fine non-match grade ammunition?  I'd be much obliged.

We have 5 weeks of squirrel season left, and I don't have enough but for about two weeks.  If I've got to start hunting with the shotgun I'm going to go broke!

I spent several hours searching the web last weekend for any quantity larger than 50rds.  Finally found some at CTD, package arrived today.  Checked today and they are now out, and no longer ship here to NY.   Squeaked that one in just in time.

try ammoseek.com if theres any out there it will find it

I was looking yesterday and I was surprised that 22lr was all gone. None of my local suppliers here in MI have any and they have no clue when it will be coming either. Same response from all, suppliers are empty and shipments are only a box here and there. Seems to be a supply and demand problem.

The reason you can't find any 22lr is because they have conversion kits for the AR-15's to turn them into 22lr's.  It was explained to me yesterday from a friend of mine that there are many kits that will convert multiple guns.  SO I would assume that is the reason.

At the gun show a few weeks ago .223 rounds were going for approximately 1.00 per round.  Before this fiasco started a box of 1,000 rounds ran about 350 to 400 bucks.  It is nuts!

I found some (in the Wal-Mart parking lot).  Thanks, guys!

No, an employee snagged the only two cases that came off the truck, and I just happened to see him paying for it.  I offered to buy a brick from him, and he told me to meet him in the parking lot so he wouldn't get in trouble with his bosses.  I followed him to the parking lot at he sold me two bricks.  Let the squirrel hunting continue!!!

I heard on the radio that you could get a 525 rd box for $70. I think the last one I bought at walmart was around $15.

That's about the average on GunBroker right now, $60 to $85+.

I just picked up 3 boxes of mini mag for $23 I usually don't buy from Walmart but they are the only ones who had any. It wasn't even on the shelf I seen a plain cardboard box behind the counter and seen cci on it and knew it was either for a .22 or .17hmr so I asked and bought my limit of 3 boxes it will last me a while till I find a brick of ammo

Bass Pro in Auburn had like 3 boxes of pest rounds, that was it!  I have half a brick left and I am scrambling now.  This just sucks.  Something is fishy, seems a little too much like the government is regulating the release of them.  hmmmmmmmmmmm

My father in law pointed this out the other day...

Remington, cci, federal ect arnt the only ones who make ammo and bullets. These companies I'm hearing are saying they arnt making more, behind, what have it but what about wolf or Tula or bear ammo all the Russian manufactures of Ammo I'd be flooding the market if I was them in this situation they can boost production and have nothing to loose they can sell anywhere.

Ya, something is definetely awry.  I could kick myself for not stocking up.

Iv been stocking up on what I can.

Keep an eye on walmart shelves. I have been able to get .223 and .22 at two different walmarts in my area.

Never seen a shortage of ammo like this period. I cant find 9mm or .22 ammo ANYWHERE! I have asked when stores get shipments and wait patiently at the counter on shipment day only to find out they have none. This is getting ridiculous! I actually want to go shoot, not just horde ammo like people are doing right now. . .

i have lucked out here and there with ammo. I went out shooting yesterday, but i didnt shoot as much as i normally would. I didnt wan to run through all my ammo and then have none when warm weather comes. My brother in law scored 2000 .223 rds and 1000 .308 rds the other day. I know the owners of all the gun shops near me, they say the police are buying all the .223 ammo. Also talked to the managers at sporting goods stores and they say it is mostly cops buying the .223s.

I'm seeing alot more ammo lately but its all varmint stuff actually had a harder time before all this to get my 243 ammo only 2 shops carried 58gr superformance now every store and shop I go to has had 10 boxes or more of it it's just a bit more now 29.99 compared to 23.99 what I used to pay.

Apparently the ban is not going to happen.  Me thinks things will go back to normal.

When all this panic buying/hoarding is over, the ammo companies are going to have problems selling anything.  Too many will have way more than they need and sales will drop like a rock.  I have less than 700 rds of .22 LR and hope I can make it last awhile because it's going to be a long time before I can find more.

700rnds of ammo is a lot in my opinion I love to plink with my 22 and it would last me a good while but all my rifles are single shot or bolt action kinda hard to get trigger happy with.

theres a store here in north alabama thats selling remington 550 rd box of .22, (the green box) for $88.00 a box! people will remember that simmons, whenever it gets back on the shelves again, you will lose your customers for doing that to them.
