Anyone Still Use Strike King 3X Plastic Lures?

Featured Replies

I was going through my old plastics and noticed I still had 3X material
Strike King lures: Flukes, Trickworms and lizards. I used them a few
times for LM and found them a nuisance in weeds. You couldn't use them
weightless because of the super floatation (like a Zoom Fluke) and they'd melt any normal plastic it came in contact with. I still see them sold but don't think I'll buy again unless I can find a use for
them. At least I bought them cheap in a clearance bin.

Anyone use 3X baits - the ones that stretch to arms length and are super buoyant?

I use the flukes specifically because they float.  There are times that I want the bait to stay up.  Put a heavy hook on it, and twitch and walk it on the surface.

I saw a Shaw Grigsby video of him using them (fluke) on a drop-shot rig and the action was impressive. Of course I don't know how much editing was done of him catching 2-5 lb bass on the rig, but I liked fast upward floatation.

I was looking for floating worms which I could use drop shotting and on a shakey head.  Just bought a pack of the finesse worms.  Hoping to put them to the test next spring.

The elaztech type bait are making a big comeback. People are seeing the advantage of a floating bait for many techniques.

Not only for floating, but for how durable they are.  Multiple fish one one bait saves money.

The lizards are one of my favorite C-rig bait just because they float. I like the Zman craw baits for a jig trailer because they're durable and the claws float up at rest. The Zinker is a great finesse bait on a jighead. The Zman Finesse shad on a Scrounger head has great action and lasts a lot longer than regular flukes.

Picked up a few packs of Zeros last time I was at BPS.

A PB&J Zero on a ballhead jig was my go to for awhile there.

What is the name of the sk lizards that float?

I only see sk rage tail lizards and they don't mention 3x.

I also really like the floating fluke lures - they used to have one that floated and had a small rattle pocket in it - I use them like a suspending hardbait in winter with enough weight to have them barely suspend or sink. Deadly drifted past logs for smallmouths in our Ozark rivers. I like the chunk jig trailers but really like the new LeechZ (which isn't Strike King) as a hair jig trailer - already catching Bass and Walleye this year on upper Bull Shoals with it.

The Z-Too's and the finesse worms. The Zeros are good till they lose the salt and start floating but then just put 'em on a shakey head or C-rig.
