Trying to figure out what pound thrust this 24 volt, Johnson trolling motor is.  Model # 8F4PP98,  Serial# H02951191. Any help greatly appreciated. 

My wife had one on her boat.  As I remember it was about 50# but I am not sure.

I'm guessing 56 lb but not sure. Bought my boat used 5 years ago and this motor was on it. Still is. Lookin to upgrade and was just wondering what # thrust it was. Pretty dependable TM but I have busted a couple of cables on it. Bout $60.00 a pop to replace those. Gonna move up to 70 or 80 lb.

If it has the 12" prop, it is 56#

If it has the 8" prop it is 41#

They are popular with the "GO-FAST" boat crowd because of their light weight.

I have one on my 96 stratos.  Been there since the factory.  I am the third owner of the boat and I said I would upgrade when it broke.  I saw no need to replace a perfectly good working motor.  Well, its ugly, it doesn't have a ton of thrust, but it is a tank and is still running fine. (My wife says its just like me)

I have replaced the prop once in 6 years.  However, I have busted the pin that holds the prop in place.  Its only a $6 part but I think its time to put her to rest as I bent the shaft last summer as well.  I actually like the foot pedal better than any on the market so I'm not sure what brand to go with next.  It kinda like a Chevy vs. Ford thing with TMs

two batteries for 56lbs of thrust... it would be gone

Motor Guide foot controlled motors have the momentary on button on the right side of the pedal like the OMC does.

Minnkotas have that button on the left side of the pedal.

That is one of the reasons I like Motor Guides.

I had 4 of the OMC motors. one on a bass boat, one on a 10' jon boat, one on a 12' jon boat, and a spare. I used them from 1988 through 2009.

When you guys upgrade,please let me know, I will gladly buy them!! For a little tin boat those things are magical!!! Buckeye, PM me I will buy it when you upgrade!

x2 weight to power ratio is something to take into account for anyone, not just the guy trying to squeeze .5mph more outta his rig.  The trolling motor mounts as far forward as possible on a boat and that weight has a lot of hold on how the boat handles and rides, as well as its speed.  When taking this power to weight ratio into account always include the 100lbs+ of batteries your gonna have on board. 56lbs of thrust wouldn't quite cut it for me either

For the guys running smaller tin rigs, the OMC 12/24 is a go to! These little TM's are virtually bullet proof! On a glass rig, you probably need more thrust and usually are going to a 36v configuration anyway.
