What do you guys think, i personally like the mattlures ultimate bluegill.

Deffinitly give an all white tube a try, i had a real nice strike last year just hopping it up and down on the bed. They seem to work pretty well

I think the color is more important than the actual lure. I like anything I can put a big hook in and that has a good hook up and land percentage. I use a white tube a lot to make the fish angry but a lot of times it takes a color change to make them commit.

Seems like a jig is effective and easily maneuvered.

It did'nt seem to really matter what I threw on a bed last year. As long as the bait hit the right spot in the bed, she would nail it. That being said, a plain old worm worked pretty well for me.

I always have a bright colored tube tied on one rod (for me to see it in the bed, not neccessarily the fish). BUT, the last few years I have gone to a drop-shot with a VERY short drop (6-8") and a small straight-worm (3-4"). The benefit with this set-up is that once in the bed, you're not moving the bait through the bed each time you twitch it (eventually leaving the bed and having to re-pitch). PLEASE, everyone, fish bedders responsibly! Have fun with a few and move on, especially on community flats were these fish get beat-up continually.

I use a weightless baby Paca Craw.

A drop shot rigged lure because you can put a lot of movement in your bait to draw attention to it while not moving the bait out of the bed.

what i find interesting here is the "cleaning the nest" part. i read something not long ago, cant remember where, but as the guy told it, his friend said he could catch any bedding bass easily. and proceeded to show him how. now i dont know if this is true or just a story, and im not saying its fact. but the guy proceeds to pick up a wet leaf from along the shore and folds it up a bit and puts it on his hook. he tosses it out on the bed and the bass will proceed to pick it up and move it to keep the bed clean and BAM, fish on. it would be interesting to know if that actually worked, someone here should try it and report back

I generaly have at least 3 rods rigged for bed fishing. I start with one of my gills. I also use a jig and a small bait. Sometimes a splitshoted minnow type or a drop shot minnow typ bait.

I do not like long baits that can easily bi picked up without getting hooked. Worms, lizzards, etc I feel are poor choices for bed fishing.

drop shotting a craw will work.  I did rather well during the spawn at the local city lake working a craw over the bed.  let it sit and shake it and you will get bit.  If it takes too long or you grow impatient, hit the bass with the weight, it'll spook but then come back with a vengeance...

bed baits best for me is jackall giron because i can imatite bluegill eating in the bed so it drives bass crazy when it is suspending on the ground by its hook
