Glad everyone had fun again this time around. It's great to see the quality of fish that were being caught. Never would have guessed I'd be tossing 17 inchers back without having to measure them. Glad that spot paid off for Curt and Peter  :eyebrows:  I thought about fishing it a few times but never made it there. How does everyone feel about the end of September for the next one? Last fall we did it late October and it was getting pretty nip and tuck if the weather was going to hold on and be nice by tourny day. The other potential problem we could have with late September is depending on the weather you may be looking turnover straight in the face. I like the idea of weighing the fish on the boats and doing a total weight, especially if we do Melvern again. Just my feelings with the way these smallmouth are built you can get a 16.5 inch fish pushing 3 pounds or like the 16.5 largemouth I had that was 3.57 pounds. Let me know what you guys think and we'll start looking at putting the next one together  :respect-059:

I think one thing we could change, would be how long we fish. Since it is a get togther maybe we could just fish till noon. That way everyone would not have to leave so soon and we could make the cookout a lunch. I enjoyed the fishing, but I think having longer to hang around with everyone would be great. What do you guys think.

I think we have usually gone till 3 in the past but yeah having more time to hang out is good too.  I think everyone was just a little beat up from the rain and the wind.  At least the big ones were biting :)

I learned alot out there and had a good time.  I couldn't get anything to eat a little 2.5 blue chrome jerkbait that i have good luck with.  I didnt figure smallies to want all wanted the big ol stickbaits with hooks everywhere lol.

Good boatin with ya scrogg and catching enough to keep us thinking we were in it for most of the day.  Glad I left my phone in the truck and didnt see all the monsters getting caught or we probably woulda got into the beer and burgers before noon!

Big props to Blue, Nicole, and Chris on bringing everyone together.  They just keep getting better and better!

Yes a big thx to Clayton for putting together another one of these. The amount of people keeps getting bigger, and the fish keep getting bigger and better every time. Curt and I set a goal on the drive down there that we would be satisfied with win or lose. We ended up finding a really stacked area, that would produce in waves. We could go 15-20 mins without a bite and then double up two times in a row, and it was consistently that pattern. I still think about the one I lost, he hit at the very end of my last jerk, so I couldn't get any kind of set on him, he hit it like a pound of bricks. The moment he hit it I was already yelling at curt to get the net lol. I wish I wouldn't have seen it bc I could have told myself it was a big drum. I look forward to the next one, I definitely would love to try a new lake, and that one around Topeka sounds like a blast.
