It looks old to me. May just be on her way out. Blinded bass apparently are at a disadvantage but I have seen a number of single blinded, and a double blinded bass, do just fine. I had a thread on here about the double blinded one a while back.

I caught a 4 lber with one eye out. Somebody must have caught it in the eye years back.

I've caught several fish with only one eye, they still hunt effectively.......as for the size/condition of the fish, it could be a number of things

The only thing really wrong with that fish is it's too dang small to keep in a tourney.   Seriously, it looks as though it's been hooked a few times.  Whoever hooked it in the tongue really butchered it getting the hooks out.  Chances are the blind eye was also the result of a hook.  That fish has a good chance at surviving if it can fight off the infection in it's mouth.

I see the mutilated tongue now that you mention it. Fish can take a beating from hooks, esp barbed trebles.

 

I went barbless on most of my soft plastics a while back bc of deep hooked fish. After seeing stuff like the pic below on some of my harder fished waters I finally started experimenting with barbless trebles on crankbaits.

Someone had a heck of a time getting the barbs extracted from this fish. This fish is going to look like this in another year:

 

I found barbless trebles held fish just fine and I've crushed the barbs on most of my cranks. I don't go barbless on heavy lipless, or jigs -too heavy and easily thrown on any slack, like jumps. Brian Waldman (bigindianabass) also experimented with barbless cranks and found they worked just fine too. He boated over 200 fish during that period and said he saw no difference, except in unhooking. He tourney fishes though and I think he settled on micro-barb hooks. He's got a write-up in his blog about it.

Bass do age, grow old and suffer damage along the journey. The 1st small bass looks like a male with eye desae.

The added torn lip bass could also occur from ripping themselves free from lures when the bass gets into cover etc.

I've seen this quite a few times. What's wrong with this fish is that it lacks a good breading and deep fry. If you have a fillet knife please operate as soon as possible.

Reminds me of the classic pond fish from around here with a big head and long skinny body.

A lot of times the skinny body is a result of plastic in the bass.. Remember not to discard your used plastics in the lake the fish will still pick them up even though they are not on the hook..

I wonder how many dead fish are out there just with the soft senkos that thousands are lost or flung off the hook everyday..
