Hey fellas i'm looking for a place to buy blank spools in 300 yd and 1000 yd for spooling surplus lines and such.  I'm surprised I cannot find any, can someone help me out or just send me all our blank spools.

"Surplus line" stays on the spool it came on or is reattached to some other spool.

I just use big, old trolling reels.

Search empty spools on ebay they have every shape and size you could ever want.

Surplus line as in used fishing line. Sometimes I spool line for just a few outings and switch up. I rather put it on a backup spool and mark it used.

I'd say you're getting off to a great start for someone with 3 posts. Insults wont get you a lot of cooperation.

In all seriousness, ask your buddies, save old smaller spools, or go to a sporting goods store and ask them. I know we run through spools all the time but they just get tossed when we are done with them.

you might be better served buying a backup spool for your reels then you can just change the spool on your reel and have multiple lines ready to go on hand. otherwise, ive read some people here put line on used paper towel rolls and stuff. personally im not obsessed with changing lines constantly, when i want to change line i throw the old line away, of course i only fish mono so its not as expensive as braid or fc

It's easier just getting an older "junk" reel with a deep spool.  Check ebay.

Actually you can just wrap it on to an empty spool and there will be zero line twist.  All of the line twist that is generated by hand spooling will be eliminated at the end of the line when you an attach it from the reel.  That being said, it takes a longer than needed to do it that way.  What I have done is put a spool on a bolt and tighten a nut down insert the bolt into a drill and it's done in no time.

I found a bunch when I looked they might not be fishing line specific but a spool is a spool.

Thanks, yeh I did want fishing spools to fit inside my Plano spool boxes but anything can work for now.

If you taped it down and reverse rolled it, it should work. Either way it'd be off the spool.

spent toilet paper rolls.  get one every 2-3 weeks (or every 2-3 days if you live with a woman).

 

honestly you won't have surplus line being moved around the more you fish.  you'll get better organize, understand ur rod/reel combos, and dedicate them for specific purposes.  you'll only add line

Thanx i appreciate al the help, that toliet paper roll works wonders and its free. Clackerbuzz was right about women and toliet paper, its like clock work.

That's terrible advice. Your line will be incredibly twisted if you intend to use it again, it will not come out when you detach from the spool. Every revolution will have added one turn of line as it sits on the spool.
