What Trailers For Jigs Throughout The Year

Featured Replies

just curious if you change your trailer on your jig for different seasons. i am wanting to fish jigs more and wanting to get some info on what types of trailers i should be using in early spring when the temps are 40 or bellow. early spring into pre spawn, during the summer months, then fall.

In the winter I use a Strike King River Bug and cut the end I thread onto the hooks down to a point. This keeps the action of the skirt more alive. The river bug is really small

Other wise I use Rage Craw on filping jigs and a Berkley Subwoofer on swims.

If I want a more pronounced jig, ill leave the the full length trailer on. If I want a more compact, ill bite an inch or so off

I use a rage craw all the time, but I just got some Strike King River Bugs that I plan on tryin some out.

In water temps of 40's I fish a pork trailer. And when the water gets in the low 50's I go to a Baby Paca or a Tiny Paca craw, 5in. grubs. And when they it into there summer patterns I go with trailers like the craws, the Netbait Dirt Dawg put on backwards, brush hogs, ribbon tail worms, lizards, beavers, paddle tail swimbaits, and I will fish these up to late fall.

In the cold water I will use a Cosmic Chunk.  As the water warms I will use a Cosmic Craw and Rage Craw/Chunk

I like the Rage line for a more active presentation.

The bait I use most is the Flappin Hog though.
