Table Rock Lake??

Featured Replies

Hello!

I am going to Branson first week of August and plan on taking my kayak to do some fishing at Table Rock lake. If any one fishes this lake can you share with me water type and suggestions? Also, do you now of any fishing quides or anyone that might take me out on their boat for a fee? Thanks

For a guide, contact Bill Babler.

Last August I did well using a drop shot, I mainly fish the White River channel near the Big M marina, which is a bit of a drive from Branson, but the DS will work lake wide, the hard part is locating the fish.  It sure helps to have a decent fish finder.  In general you want to look at the deep end of long points, 20-35 foot depths.  Good DS baits are Zoom finesse worms, and Roboworms.  Old Purple for Zoom, Morning Dawn for Roboworms are great colors.  Go early in the AM for the best bite and there's not very many pleasure craft out early.  Be careful out there in your kayak, especially later in the day as there are lots of pleasure craft zooming around that time of year.

Some of the guides you might contact are (in no particular order):

Bill Babler

Buster Loving

Jerry Snider

Bill Beck

There are lots more but those come to mind right now.

I'll be fishing with Bill Beck May 29th.  I'll let you know how it goes.

We used Pete Wenners last summer and we were pleased with him.

Fished will Bill Beck last week.  Great guy and he knows his stuff.  We put over 30 smallmouth in the boat with some spots added in.  Had a blast and would highly recommend.

What part of the lake are you going out on? August is almost always tough on Table Rock with the high temps, clear water, and all the boating/fishing pressure. I'd suggest planning on being on the water (an hour or two before sunrise if possible) early or going after dinner and staying out late. All the guides mentioned will put you on fish and make your time with them as enjoyable as possible.

I have fished with Pete Wenners twice and found him to be the "best" of the many guides I have fish with over the years. He even offered his cell number to ask questions later in the week if we had any. That's service.
