Nice fish.................I like jigging tipped with squid in 20-60' of water, and keep your eyes pitched for the rays.

Yes, same guide. By now I consider myself part owner of the new boat :)

The big one had a friend with her that was just as big. The guide took a cast at her with his fly rod but it fell short. He took a wrong step and ended up in the water. Luckily he was OK, and we were able to land the single fish but it was an adventure!

And yes, dinner that night was delicious :)

That is a great story.  Did he have his camera still in hand?

I was also on a boat in Key West when the mate was tossed overboard. He was near the transom rigging rods, we hit a few rough waves and off he went. Thankfully again, no one was hurt

Almost had the same thing happen to me reeling in a big fish. The seas had picked up too much so my buddy was at the wheel and we hit such a big wave that the deck of the boat just went out from under me. I landed on the other side of the transom on the engine mount. Never go out in 8' seas in a 27' boat with only two people. That's the lesson I guess.

Also, y'all are crazy not gaffing that big one. I would've found a way to get injured by that fish flopping around.

:thumbsup

I'm right there with you on the gaff. Granted it was a 30 min fight since the tackle was a bit light but for some reason he really didn't feel like getting the boat all bloody that day. Luckily it worked out.
