I was fishing in a pond to day and a guy said I should use shrimp for catfish does that work and what type of worm do I use I've been told greenie are those good

Yup, I get some at walmart or whatever and get the frozen uncooked ones. I've used nightcrawlers and caught a bunch of bullheads.

They'll work. I prefer live bluegills.

shrimp will work. and the same as powerduster above says,  i get the cheap frozen uncooked ones from walmart. for worms, i use regular old night crawlers...chicken livers will work too...

Chicken liver will definitely do it. It smells bloody and horrible....and the cats love it. But it will be hard to keep them on the hook since they are so soft. You can try 1/2 freezing them and making them firmer.

Pantyhose. . . . put the chicken liver in a small square cut from pantyhose, tie or sew it shut, and then hook it on. Never lose my livers anymore!

1/2 freezing dont really work. certain spots will just split when you put the hook in it. plus its just going to unthaw when it hits the water and it will unthaw in the container while fishing...i was using elastic thread for awhile, but then i lost my roll of it. now i have these small stretchy hair things, i just stretch one out over the liver on the hook and it works well so far.

I have heard that raw shrimp that arent de-veined work pretty well. I cant really say ive ever had issues keeping livers on the hook as long as you hook it through some of the grizzle type stuff that joins the individual pieces.

Where are you fishing for catfish at? If you're fishing ponds I've always found it pretty tough to beat grasshoppers for pond catfish. Anywhere else I prefer either live sunfish or cut shad or carp. Using live or cutbait with fish that are found in the body of water you're fishing will greatly increase your odds of catching a big fish.
