Who lives in or near OP and knows how to get to this Lake?

I'm not sure exactly where you live in OP Chris but according to Google maps there's 3 miles difference and 13 minutes difference depending on which route you take. It takes me about a hour and a half from my house to get there on 56. If you go 56 west (main road through Gardner, exit 210 off of I35 south) You'll take a right (north) onto N 6th St/E 1700 RD. In about 3 miles you'll take a left (west) onto N 600 Rd. You'll go about 4 miles and it will turn into N 650 Rd and you'll turn left (south) onto Highway 59. 3 miles back south you'll turn right (west) back onto Highway 56. You stay on that for a long ways and you'll go through Scranton and Burlingame. Once you get through Burlingame you'll be on Highway 31 for about 15 miles before 31 ends and you take a right (north) onto Highway 99. That will go through Eskridge and after you get through there it will be about 4-5 miles you'll be turning left (south) into the lake.

If you take I70 you just take that through Topeka to Highway 4. Turn left (south) and follow that to Eskridge. Right on 99 and 4-5 miles to the lake.

56 is the easier and faster route IMO but obviously if you're towards the north end of OP it may be faster to take I70.

Yeah we'll have food afterwards again. Got to have something to look forward to if the lake makes a liar of me and doesn't produce for us! Your boat would work fine but if we have enough people then y

Hey guys just catching up on this thread.  I wish i could make it but it's my daughter's bday that weekend.  I probably would have held everyone up anyway: the lady at the dock woulda ran out of bleach or had a breakdown trying to work my old boat over. lol

You guys need to post the top 5 weigh in's on here... I wanna see someone go 20+ !

Man that sucks you are not going!!!

Do we need to start going through who's bringing what for the cookout? I can't remember if we already did that.

Its been started, Peter. Should be on front page.

Im bringing my own personal bleach water bottle. Try to impress the gate keepers.

No chance impressing her, I'm climbing the fence and sneaking in

  • Super User

I think the guardhouse at wolf creek should recruit her.

They got zebras too. Heck, they pull water from Redmond. Redmond has mussels. SMH.

Put me down for baked beans, coleslaw, and limited edition camo mountain dew, and if we need anything else just let me know what to get

I'll bring chips, plates and a desert (probably a box of Twinkie's)

AND MY A GAME!!!

Btw me and Peter are staying at the B&B that's on the lake and we may be able to do the food... There. We'll know more by Saturday morning. I know they have a dock but I don't know how many boats it will hold.

Single bed eh? ;)

Im bringing my stepson. My 6 year old that is on the Autism Spectrum has a movie day. Once a month the theatre shows a "Sensory Sensitive" showing of a kids movie. Its this Sat. So my wife wanted to take him. He dont get alot of stuff to do specifically for him. So he looks forward to it.

My stepson, Caeleb is 15. We will fish the Bun. Then trek over to Melvern and campout. Turn around and fish Melvern Sunday.

So, uh, what time are we needing to get out there? Gosh... launching 8 boats is gonna take at least an hour with you know who. Maybe longer.

Well we can only start at sunrise/when you know who gets there.

Ok, so I talked to the lady at the ramp (not THE lady but the lady that was at the gate) about the get together. I guess she'd already heard about it and asked about our tournament and if I was fishing in it. I told her I was going to be there with a group of guys the 5th. She said she'd talked to city reps and they said no go on any tournaments. I explained that it wasn't a tournament but a group of guys getting together for some fishing and BSing and food. She lightened up a little when I told her that and asked that I just let everyone know not to call it a "tournament" and make sure everyone knows not to have their boats anywhere within 7 days of the get together. She also thought it might be a good idea for everyone to take their boats to a car wash and spray them off before hand. She said as long as I'd promise to get the message accross to everyone that she'd be there before 7am on the 5th to help check us in. So if you read this and get a text from me to read it just ignore my text.

If you haven't seen it, please read the above post from my last trip to Wabaunsee.

Are you still bringing brats and buns too?

Check out my post from the 19th. Mona (the daughter of oldest gal that works out there, the one most of you have dealt with) said that if I spread the word to keep our boats off the water for 7 days prior to our fish off, don't call it a tournament, and ask everyone to take their boats to the car wash before we come out there, that she would be out there at 7am to help her mom check us all in so we can get on the water faster. The original plan was 7-1 so if everyone is alright with that we'll probably shoot for those times.

Yeah, probably better off to bring brats or we'll only have burgers and we have a couple side items already. I can have Chris grab some chips and desserts since he offered to bring whatever we need :)

It's $20.50 for the boat permit for a day and $2.50 for a day fishing permit.

I'll bring something tasty. Yet to know exactly what it will be at this point

Anyone bringing hot tea? Looks like it may be a little cool

I'll have some Bourbon

Almost the same  :toothy12:

Ill have a cup of coffee from that little filling station in Eskridge.

Yeah guys looks like the weather isn't going to cooperate very well (you're all shocked I'm sure). Looks like it may even be close to freezing in the morning  :dazed-7:  Plus 15mph winds from the NW, so make sure you have plenty of warm cloths with you! I'll have a thermos of coffee I'll be willing to share if anyone needs it out on the water.
