Who is using what? i was using a MH/F premier but looking for something with a little more of a slower taper

im using a *** *** rod, 7'3 M/F. works good and havnt had a bass come unhooked yet. also use it for bigger cranks and 3/8 and 1/2 spinnerbaits. its actually one of my most verstail rods thats not for plastics/jigs.

I use the falcon bucoo trap caster I absolutely love it used it for about two years now

A Fenwick HMG M/MF is doing the trick well so far. And I used to use a MH/F Premier myself and had issues with the stiffness of the tip.

I use a 7' MH-mod-fast Shimano Crucial. 

I use a 7ft MH Moderate Fast Shimano Convergence

I use a 7' M/F Quantum Smoke rod & 7'6" ML/MF Shimano Cumara Reaction rod.

I really like the Smoke rod with lipless cranks seems to need less effort with the faster tip to rip through weeds and work the lure. Plus its extremely light at 3.4oz with good balance. I have a Shimano Core50 on it and its a delight to fish. Its rated to 3/4oz lures as well and handles those, most M/F rate 1/2oz lures so this is another plus.

Same as You & jezeeD I have a MH/F Premier it is stiff Smoke rod not like that has some give. I have caught crappie with it and not ripped their papermouths' off.

I use a Dobyns 705CB. It's the all graphite version with a crisp mod/fast action that I find to be ideal.

St Croix Mojo 7' M/F with a 200B Curado. Soft enough not to pull hooks, but enough backbone to rip a bait out of the weeds and stop a surging big fish. 

I use my G. Loomis cranking rod and my Bass Pro Shop cranking stick.

 

To be honest I like the BPS cranking stick better.

 

Your goal is to find a glass rod that transmits the lure's vibrations back to your hand.

 

A seven-foot medium heavy cranking stick may serve your needs.

 

Pair it with a Shimano Curado E5 or any 5:1 ratio reel and have some fun!

I had an early 90's Bud Erhardt Graphite composite crank bait rod I used up until last year.  I used it up until last year, when using braided line put grooves in the guides.  Now that rod is on the bench, until I can get some spare money to put new guides on it.

 

Rod got replaced with a Falcon Bucoo 7' Trap Caster.  I like it.  The casting distances I get are pretty similar to what I got out of the Erhardt composite graphite, but it is definitely lighter and that's a plus.

St Croix Mojo 7' MH/Mod. It's a little softer than the fast action St Croix, but not too soft where it just loads up instead of ripping the bait free from grass (which is how I fish them 99%) of the time. If the grass is really grabby, I switch to my 7' M/F , it stiffer so it "pops" it out better, but still has enough give to make a decent treble hook bait rod.

Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth casting rod, 6'10" MH-MF , this is THE best reaction bait rod I ever used!! The length is perfect, long enough to get good casting distance but still have a high degree of accuracy. The rod has a fast tip, perfect for working a jerkbait aggressively or ripping a trap off of weeds or burning a square bill around cover and it has the backbone to drive home a spinnerbait,chatterbait, or buzzbait hook and still have enough flex to keep fish pinned when hooked on small trebles, this rod was well thought out!!

I've heard this before somewhere else, ha ha. This really is a fine rod for reaction baits. If you want something with a little more moderate action/taper the Kistler KLX crank/rip/twitch series are fantastic as well.

Oh yes you have...LOL!! I noticed you really like the KLX rods, I only owned 1 Kistler and I didn't like it but the blank being used on the KLX along with the price has me looking.

forgot to say this when i first replied, but a powell diesel 7'2 MH makes an excellent rattle trap rod. the tip vibrates so much you can feel when even a little speck of grass is on you bait, its a dang good rod for the price

 My new rod of choice this year is my 2012 St. Croix Extreme, 7'2" MHM, this is turning out to be a very sweet and versatile rod, 1/2 oz and 3/4 traps it's excellent. The Avid MM R W mentioned works good if your in fairly clean water, but a little light for 3/4 traps.

For rattle traps; spinning rod, Bass Pro Tournament series, 7' MF action. For a casting; Berkley Lightning Rod, 7' MF action.
