If we're talking soft plastics, then it would be the PowerTeam Lures 5" Sick Sticks or the 5"/7" Finicky Ticklers - they are neutrally bouyant and are killer.

If you are talking plastics, then by all means, rig up a 9" Slug-go on a 7/0 worm hook. Just make sure you are prepared for a tremendous strike! So far this year, I've taken a 5 1/2# and 4# LM on this rig. It works. Plenty heavy enough too.

The D shad has the best action of any soft jerkbait Ive seen. It wiggles and falls backwards rigged w/an EWG

Caffeine shad. The ones made by Big Bite Baits are ok too

The newer version of the Sinking Slug-go. I love the originals, but they have a tendency to rise on the jerk motion.

Mirrorlures are some of the most versatile lures I've ever used, my favorite is the catch 2000 and the catch jr.  Not to split hairs but these are twicthbaits and not jerk baits.  I can work these lures either subsurface or on top of the water, I especially like them for fishing the swash where the water is no higher than my knee.

Plastic jerk baits are a different genre, I'm a big fan of DOA 5.5" jerk shads.
