Hey, of course it's about fun, that's why I mentioned it. So it stays fun for everyone. My only suggestion for next time, would be clear it up right at the beginning, that way there's no confusion. Now back to the fishing.

You guys are killin' me! I checked in on BR from the water, and was reading through that stuff, and bursted out laughing. The other two boats fishing near me were like "What the hell is up with that guy?". Anyway, I hooked into a biggun , but she got off somehow. Sucked. Probably about a 7 pounder or so.

  • Super User

Dude, you are one dedicated guy. Fishing and following BR at the same time?? LOL.

Lovell Lake NH

Did Lovell Lake for the first time what a great lake but a pain to park a trailer. Never fished this lake before but caught 23 with this one weighing at 3.42 what a big belly on it. Smallies were on fire with Yum June bug worms. This one I got with a bass pro tourney pumpkinseed green 6 inch worm wacky rigged weightless. I would go back to this lake when the tourist season is over.

Quitting is for quitters, that said, I am over being defensive. Here is a repost of my five fish so you have them. I apologize if I offended anyone.

A Humble Total of 100", (Before getting all defensive about where to measure, I was at 103")

Fish #1 I am still calling a 23"

Nice fish Mars glad to see you joined back up with your fellow anglers. In our thread we don't get all technical with mouth open or closed or tip of tail or middle it's just a round about estimate. Sometimes the fish might not line up and u need to add or reduce its length. If it comes down to a tie at the end then maybe a more in depth look at the lengths would be sufficient.

But most of us are bank fishermen and are worried about getting the fish back so it is what it is it's all fun

  • Super User

Cool, man! Glad you came back in.

  • Super User

Welcome back Mars. Nice to see you back in the game. Nice catches as well.

  • Super User

Just read through the thread. Very good catches guys.

On the measuring issue, I've never heard of measuring the shortest point of the tail. That makes no sense to me. I don't know where that mis-information came from with that being the "correct" way to do it.

Here is Florida's example. http://myfwc.com/fishing/freshwater/fishing-tips/measure/

I'm still looking for other states but I know PA fish wardens measure bass this way as well.

It's always been "closed mouth, pinched tail, tip to tip" for a measurement.

SPEEDBEAD,

I think you ought to get in next month. That monster you caught earlier this month looked at least 24". Thanks for the input!

Everyone else,

Please feel free to post your biggest fish in the thread I started last week for the monthly/yearly lunker. Since I have been keeping track of this thread in August I will be happy to count all landed fish in August. Looks like Shane has the lunker so far if he decided to post.

Thanks Gents.

  • Super User

Thanks for posting that, Speed. Looks like I was referring to "Fork Length". Either way is fine, but we should all do it the same from now on, ya know? And yeah, why aren't you in on this?
