What To Do, What To Do,

Featured Replies

bait monkey has got me, I have a chance to get a duckett micro magic 7 M for 130.00 new. was thinking all of my weightless flukes, caffine shads, can thumpers and other swimming/weightless jerk bait stuff. BUT not sure if there is a 7 medium in his new 100 ghost rods coming out. If there is I can wait, so if there isn't a 7 M coming out is the 130 a good deal or could I get one gently used cheaper than that. Also is the 7 M a good rod for the above. last but not least. thinking a Curado E, shoud I get a 7 gear or is the 6 gears good enough. What is your opinion.

Curado E came in two gear ratios   7.1:1 and 5.1:1,  you will have to use the gears out of a Citica E to get a 6.3:1 gear ratio in the E series.

M power is good for soft plastic anything weightless. I am not a fan of micro guides, though my Cumara has some and they are okay. Curado E is always good. 6 is enough, 7 is also fine, and you should go with what you prefer.

I saw a E on ebay 6.3.1 maybe it was the e50, anyway I personally like high speed, so I may go with that. thanks

Sorry,I assumed you were speaking of the 200 sized reels because you mentioned the 7.1 gear ratio which the 50e did not come in.   The 50e was a 6.4:1 reel and the Curado 300e was a 6.2:1 reel.    The 200 sized Curado E was made in the 5.1:1 and 7.1:1 and the Citica E was a 6.3:1 reel only.

Hope it helps.

new to shimanos, so the E-Gs sizes get me a bit, still learning :)

No problem, the E and G are different reels in many ways with the G series having the better selection in gear ratio.  My preference is still the E series.

Not to confuse things more but if you like the Curado 200e platform, you can get a Chronarch 200e in a 6.5:1 ratio.  It is basically the same reel as the Curado 200e.  It will cost a bit more though.

To add to the confusion, I feel that a Curado or Chronarch 50E would compliment your Medium power rod quite well.

picked me up a chronarch e7 last week for heavy T-rigging and I love it, I kept hearing the curado E was better, and the green would look sharp on the white. but I think the 50e curado doesn't come in 7 gear. Id like the higher gear if did want to buzz them, idk.. like a kid in the candy store

I am thinking to stay away from the ghost because of the insertless guides.. and possibly cheaper materials. .and EVA>. if that is what you are into vs the cork.. your choice.. I love micro guides.. but for the stuff you mentioned.. I would be using spinning gear with braid and flouro leader.

well,  the guy sold it out from me, BUT was at bps today, put the 50 on the rod at the counter, DANG it is so nice. with some 40 lb braid.  I think I can live with the 6.4.1 but how much would a tackle service charge me to get mod to 7 gear. also I read a comment above about it being noisy with heavy lures, IS that true, just in case I wanna use the 50 with something else.

if you are going for a weightless type bait set up, get the 50 size reel.

I am just trying to find a curado 50e. Used
