Guys, I'm getting into crankbaits more and need to know what a good deep diving crankbait is. I know you are suppose to grind the bottom when using crankbaits and need a good crankbait that will run 12 to 15 feet or so. Thanks in advance for the info.

For that depth I mainly use a rapala dt-14 and a bps xps deep diver (15ft) on 12lb line, the natural colors of shiner/shad/bluegill

You learn to fish a DD22 and you should be good to go!!

I regularly hit the bottom in 12 feet, on an average cast with a Strike King 5xd, super long ones or long-lining I can get it to 15, any deeper than that and I go with a 6xd, which will hit 15 for me on a regular cast, and 18-20 long-lining. I have not used the 10xds I bought yet. Where I fish bottom contact is not the only thing I want, sometimes I don't want it at all, I want top of weed "contact", and then to rip it free. One particular stretch of the lake I regularly fish...........if it touches the bottom, it's as good as gone.

the rapala dt series and xd series from strike king are the only crankbaits i use

I use the Rapala DT 20.  They have changed the name but it is the DT crankbait with the metal disc in the bill.  Depending upon your retrieve and the line diameter this bait can be worked from 10 feet to 20.  With long casts and 10# line I have fished it a little deeper than 20 feet.  I use it in one of the deep, clear, mountain lakes of the TVA.

The SK Series 5 is my favorite and will hit bottom on a long cast in 14'. Doesn't hurt that the 3rd largest bass I've caught in my home state was on one

X2 and BTW, you don't always need to be digging the bottom with a deep crank. Sometimes running a crank above the fish holding on bottom can stir them up. Just add a pause in your retrieve, or raise the rod tip to give it a change in direction/speed.

Let's see.............made in USA, awesome color selection, $5.  Pretty hard to beat.  I've been using the DD22HD cranks this year.  They are slightly heavier.  I'd also go for the Norman Deep Little N.

DD22's all day. Caught my first deep diver with one. I've always been a fan of their natural color's and today I grabbed a bright chartreuse/black-back. Went out even though it was super windy and managed to get a 3-pounder on the SUPER MUDDY river. Sure enough with my luck, the next cast I chucked it super high, it got caught in the wind, and went straight into a tree.... quickest $5 you can spend!

 

But yea - DD22's.... nothing but success for me.
