I know labor day is approaching and TW will be having a sale.. I am trying to get things as cheap as possible..

Get on the email lists of all the major online tackle shops and they will let you know when they're having a big sale.  To me, the sale that is going on when I have extra money to blow is the best sale.

This is the time right now to start browsing. I think these sellers aren't waiting for the end of the season or till after New year's to have there clearance sale. Dicks Sporting Goods usually puts a table in from of there fishing section with deals and steals on reels and rods.

Wal-Mart already has sales on reels. It's listed on there website with the in-store pickup.

They will have a good sale for Thanksgiving and for Christmas if you can wait, but they are all usually 15% or so

Black Friday sales are generally the best in terms of greatest percentage discounts offered. Labor day will be a good sale as well.

You will get the best deals on closeouts.  Wait a bit and the prices go even lower, but you will be severely limited in your selection.  Usually they will be down to 1-3 rod selections by then.

The best time to buy fishing tackle is when you've got spare money to buy fishing tackle.  Yeah, a few times per year Tackle Warehouse and other major on-line retailers will have good sales, but the chance that they will have what you want is problematic.  Besides, I can't buy rods & reels on-line, unless I am getting something that I am already familiar with.  I've got to touch and play with the rods & reels prior to buying them, that's just me.  For my, that means buying local at brick & mortar stores.  I have used on-line prices to negotiate a deal.

This is my favorite time to spread the wealth and shop smart. We get more fishing stuff for less money. But don't go to crazy with the bait monkey on your back, don't buy what you don't use.

black friday is my favorite time to buy. late winter/spring seems to hold the best discounted prices /w shows going on and the classic beginning. Bass.Tackle. Depot seems to have the highest % discount most of the time but some reels/rods aren't always on sale. TW will usually price match though and their shipping is top notch.

Black Friday defiantly, also look at St Croix's webpage from time to time and check out there bargain bin. I got the Legend Xtreme (Cork split grip w/ recoil guides) for $198 shipped, retails for $400.

If I'm not mistaken, It's Fathers Day and again either Black Friday or closer to Christmas

I asked Santa for $5,000 worth of TW gift cards, but Santa just laughed and rolled her eyes.

you get 15%...then another 15% off when they have sales...no sales tax...and free shipping... that is when the bait monkey is the happiest.
