Tips For Quitting Smoking.

Featured Replies

I, too, smoked for over 20 years.  When I had finally convinced myself that I really wanted to quit, I did.  I threw about a half pack away and never touched them, again.  At that time I was married to a woman that smoked.  When I quit, she would walk up to me and blow smoke in my face.  Not long after that she was my ex.

Smoked 2 to 3 packs for some time.  Went to dippin and loved it more.  Daughter got oral cancer and asked me to quit.  That was bout 8 or so years ago.  I can finally say I have no desire.  I used Nicorettes gum to quit and weaned to Trident Wintergreen.  Sad part of story is daughter never used any tobacco but its been an awful journey for her.

Good Luck

3 Step process to quit smoking:

Skoal, Grizzy, Copenhagen.

3x more nicotine than smoking per dip. So one good pinch = 3 cigs. And it doesn't affect your body anywhere as much as smoking.

Harmless stuff, other than this:

  1. Does smokeless tobacco cause cancer?

Yes. Smokeless tobacco causes oral cancer, esophageal cancer, and pancreatic cancer (1).

  2. Does smokeless tobacco cause other diseases?

Yes. Using smokeless tobacco may also cause heart disease, gum disease, and oral lesions other than cancer, such as leukoplakia (precancerous white patches in the mouth) (1).

Caylub, If you want to try an e-cig let me know.

I actually vape all the time because I like nicotine lol and its relatively safe.

If you want I can point you out to some websites that sell fantastic beginner kits for 15$ with everything you need besides E-cig juice (because of personal preference.) And hell, If you get into it, I can help you with some mods and other cool stuff. It became sorta like a hobby for me doing mods and getting the best vapor, throat hit, etc. PM me if you want any help e-cig wise.

Try looking into snus (pronounced snoos)

Instead of being fire-cured like dip, its pasteurized which has been proven to contain less carcinogens than dip. On the plus side too, no spitting necessary. You can swallow all of the juices and feel fine, minus the tickle from the nicotine.

Camel snus is pretty much regularly available, So I would recommend that. Some other places have skoal brand, or marlboro brand.

Substituting dip or snuff or snus for cigs is like trying to quit heroin by doing morphine.   :computer-22:

I'd say it comes down to getting rid of a nicotine addiction, or quitting smoking for lung health, and substituting smoking with another carrier of nicotine.

If you want to get rid of nicotine addiction, listen to others. If you want to substitute it, definitely try an e-cigarette, or something along those lines.

what good is a healthy lung if your esophagus is rotted out?

Chantix is the way to go if you cant quit cold turkey. It will get rid of all your cravings and you will not even think about a cigg. They taste awful when you are on the medicine. You have some pretty surreal dreams though. Good luck!

When I quit cold turkey, my surreal dream was not coughing, and weezing when I laid down.

My son was outside one chilly morning before school, had a crayon between his fingers, seeing his breath, he took a puff off the crayon. That was the deciding factor for me.

Find your motivation, you will quit and quit for good.

^^^^I think it really just comes down to this. I quit several times over the years, a couple of times for a year or more. I always went back to smoking. By the time I quit for the last time, I was ready to quit. I didn't like the cough, the the elephant on my chest every morning, the smell, the cost, or the example I was setting for my daughter. It was still not easy. I thought I was going to have to swim for shore once several months after I quit when a fishing buddy lit up and the smell wafted across the back of the boat. It took everything I had not to bum a smoke. It took years for me not to reach for my shirt pocket occasionally, but over time I lost the desire and the inclination. Find your motivation and do it.

Whats your go to flavor and/or vendor if you have one?

Whats your go to flavor and/or vendor if you have one?

My go to flavors are mostly fruity. Right now my everyday vape is Raspberry (simple flavor), however I like to mix it up with some Monster flavored stuff, RY4 tobacco, Pink lemonade menthol. I mostly buy my juices from mtbakervapor.com, however iVape.net has some great houseblends that are fantastic. There tropic punch is really good and kinda has a taste of malibu in there. When I went to Myrtle Beach I went to their shop to buy for the first time and everything is nice. My most used vape is a eGo c-twist with an iVape knock off of a vivi nova. Very enjoyable smooth vape.

Nice. I did the mbv thing for a while until I came across velvet cloud vapor. Almost double the price compared to. Mbv but they're all organic juices with no pg. Simply delicious is how I can describe it and we'll worth the price.I won't even touch the left over moo juice I have from mbv. I'm loving their harvest berry, sour skittles and mewlew magic. Their tobacco absolutes are excellent as well and really help when I get the urge to smoke.

I'm rocking a few ego batteries and a vision 1300 spinner with evods and a protank.
