Hello, My name is Zak Souza and I am 14 and  looking for a sponsor

I am a Fisherman from Fresno/Bakersfield California and i fish many big lakes like, Pine flat, Bass lake, Shaver Lake, Millerton Lake, Small Ponds, and every once in a while i will go fishing at Lake Nacimento, Lake Sanantonio and Pyramid lake.

I don't fish tournaments too often but when i can i do, Although i will be old enough here prertty soon and i will start tournaments monthly here in the next year.

I am not looking for a sponsor just to get free stuff, Heck i am fine with just a pro staff shirt and a couple of baits/ products so that i can tell you what i do and don't like about the product. I am 100% honest and will not lie just to keep a sponsor. I come into contact with several fisherman daily and have several tackleshops around my area that i can talk to and potentioly get your product in their store. Spend some time reading through the posts in this section to get a feel for what  

it takes to be sponsored. The overriding question is "What can you do for them?"

instead of asking a potential sponsor to come to you, why dont you try contacting companies whose products you use and go from there?

Also it's about how you can promote their product not about getting free or discounted stuff. Go for a company you believe in and use their product frequently not just anyone that will sponsor you. Remember a sponsorship does not make an angler better at fishing in any way. If you are in the Roosevelt high bass club, ask my friend and I how we got sponsored by companies, there's a little more than just writing them a resume, you have to prove you're worthy of being on their team and what you can do for them.

Yes that is so cool! i am joining RHS BFC and i don't think im going to be able to be at the state open at pineflat( cant afford it at the moment) but i am filling out the papers and will be joining very soon. i can't wait! i am talking to a few companies at the moment about a sponsor ship but i dont know if it will happen.  by the way. how many tournaments are their a month? isn't it just 1 time a month or every weekend?

Once a month for tournaments. If you just want discounts on stuff, our club has a few sponsors, PM me and I'll give you a list. We also do community service clean ups at lakes and sycamore island, where you get to fish then clean up a bit. The community service looks good on a college resume as well.

If your market is 14 year olds then you have to approach companies that have products for all 14 year olds. Like what do I mean????

Remote Control Aircraft and Watercraft

 

Get my drift? Be different. Be like the movie, The Bad News Bears and get a bail bonds company to sponsor you.

 

In the meantime, fish as many yute tournaments you can; make yourself known in your state's bass fishing industry; read, read and read fishing articles; watch and outline videos; join a junior bass club; be patient as good things take time; get good grades in school; go to college and get that degree, especially in fisheries biology from one of the Sea Grant Universities (Google Sea Grant Universities); buy a nice boat; get a good career and make a lot of money; then try your luck at bass fishing and the manufacturers will see you and give you some discounts on their products if you are lucky.

 

Word of  Caution: If you get married all bets are off. Just a word to the wise.

thanks everyone for your input. i took this all in mind and made a really nice resume with everything about me and what i can do for the company i sent it to. and welll i got it!
