I'm used to using an STX and Premier for flipping and pitching into semi heavy veg (Both have 20lb rating). My question is will the 10lb rating on the Shimano's be enough to get the fish out of the cover?

It works fine for me. If you need more drag power, $8 buys a Carbontex upgrade.

We're using 10# drag deep sea fishing for 20+# snapper and such.  16-18# for yellowfin tuna.  10# is way plenty!

it was enough for me to pull a 10 and an 8 out of cover while flipping the ca delta a few weeks ago so i think it will be plenty

10lb is a lot more than you think it is

Set your reel to 10# of drag, then pull the line out by hand and you will see how hard you have to pull, yes 10# of drag is a lot.  I understand the nature of the OP, dealing with vegetation rather than saltwater fishing which is mainly open water, and it's true that some powerful fish can be landed with much less drag than one may think. When I'm pulling a fish out of some thick stuff I do not adjust my drag, I grab the spool and move the fish with my rod, then it's business as usual once a bass is in open water.

A thumb on the spool gives you all the extra drag you need.

If I was to purchase a Core designated strictly for pitching, flipping, even froggin, I'd buy the Carbontex upgrade, install it dry, tighten the drag down and forget about it. Speaking hypothetically.
