Bass Pro Extreme 7' 10" H/F. That's the rod I use and you can get it on sale for $80. I've caught lots of A rig fish on it up to a 20lb striper and it handled them all with no problems.

I have the bps extreme in the 7'6" do you guys think that would work

I'm using a Cumara A umbrella rig rod and love it, I know it's outside of your spending limit but the only reason I brought it up is because Shimano also makes an umbrella rig rod with the exact same specs in their Crucial line and they are very close to your upper limit at $169.99. I'm sure you could find one for $150 if you looked hard enough. These rods are spot on for the a rig in my opinion (I guess they should be seeing as that's what they were designed to fish) and really handle them well, casting and when a fish bites.

I'm not sure if you would want to put the time and effort into looking for one of these at your price point or not but I just thought I'd throw it out since they hadn't been mentioned yet. Good luck.

I would recommend the Abu Garcia Veritas Schooling Rig rod. This rod is the perfect rod for launching what ever umbrella you choose to use. It has a soft enough tip with a strong backbone and a long handle to help launch those umbrella rigs a long way.

I use a okuma guide select 7'6" mh 1/2 to 5oz.

I throw mine on a powell diesel 7'6". It is only rated for 1.25 oz but it works great for me. I only paid $50 for this rod so if it breaks oh well.

What's it rated to? It would probably work as long as you aren't throwing a real heavy rig on it.

If you also fish for muskies then you probably already have a rod for this set up.

I just watched a video on this today, *, he said hes using a 7ft8 4 power dobyns now rather than these really stout rods used previously

I threw a-rigs with 5 1/8 oz heads on it with a 7'6" H bps extreme this year. I don't know if it was an ideal setup, but it worked ok for me.
