Best Rewards Credit Card For Anglers?

Featured Replies

Since I no longer live near Bass Pro, I am thinking of canceling my credit card.  The rewards are nice but shipping and the sales tax get me.  Not sure if there are any other good rewards credit cards out there but I am thinking of switching to Amazon.  Are there any other options that are good for fisherman?  Only store in my area is Academy Sports.

Just get a cash back card and you can use it wherever you want.  I know AMEX has a good one right and i am personally using the capital one quicksilver card.  I use it to pay for daycare each month and other normal expenses and the rewards add up pretty fast.  I also like i can log in to one spot and then handle my credit card or rewards and have options of sednign me a chcek, doanting to charity (i think) or applying it to my bill.

So far so good....

No reason to cancel, just get a new card and don't use the BPS.

yes, original post edited :)

I will also add to never close a credit card that has no fees assocaited with it.  It is better to let it sit and not use it rather than close it out.  Length of credit history, average age of accounts and availble credit are significant parts of what makes up your credit score.

Better yet let me borrow it for a week...

a week? most of us could probably max it out in a day lol

I've got a blue amex. I get points for every purchase. You can use them on amazon, or you can get gift cards from different places. Works pretty good for me, I buy from Amazon quite a bit.

Makes sense because CC company charges around 3% to merchants and giving me 1% is incentive to use it more. As long as I don't keep a balance on card it works out for all parties except the retailer.

Retailers make out too....it is part of the cost of doing business and a 3% charge per purchase is very high unless yo hare using a company like square etc...which is basically a middleman.

A BPS card is no different than any other Visa or Mastercard except BPS gives rewards points for purchases, that card can be used just about anywhere.  Some smaller businesses will have a minimum purchase amount for credit card use, very few companies are going to turn away business for the sake of 3% on higher ticket item.  Credit cards promote spending, it's interest free money if paid in full on the due date.  Debit cards are fine providing the funds are in the account at the time of purchase, I'm sure that is not the case with all people.

Amex Blue for me. I have been using it extensively for the last 3 years and the points add up pretty quickly. I try to pay everything with cc and pay it off at the end of the month. Heck I even use it at Dunkin Donuts! Some of the points I have are going towards my new HB 899 ci.
