Well despite the wind and the chilly start it turned out pretty good today. Jerkbaits and Ned rigs ruled the day. Super fluke and his brother came out on top when the dust settled with 16.87lbs, great

First, a big THANK YOU to Bluebasser86 for putting this all together and for the bladed jigs as prizes.   Second, I think I finally lived up to my screen name today of SuperFluke.  This was only my

  • It was a lot of fun today despite the hurricane we decided to fish in. Oddly enough, all our fish came on the Ned rig. We only had one bite on a jerkbait. Even the whites didn't want it from us. Going

Blue, let me know when you want to go to Shawnee

What baits do I need?

1/8-1/4oz Little Cleos, Castmasters, or Super Dupers. Last year they really liked gold but we fished lots of cloudy days so that may have had something to do with it. I'm sure they'd eat inline spinners but we never fished one. Ned rigs worked pretty well, as did small cranks like little countdown Rapalas or Rapala Ultra Light cranks. Jon caught several on a Luck E Strike G5 along with some largemouth. Small crappie jigs and micro jigs either cast or fished under a bobber all worked really well also. I've been tying up a bunch of trout jigs so I'll try to remember to post some pictures of what they look like. If I remember right almost all our biggest fish ate the Little Cleos. I had a monster follow a deep diving jerkbait to the boat also.

I caught a few on the little SK Slab Hammer crankbaits

Who all is planning on being at Shawnee for the trout tourney? Is there anyone who's going to be there that doesn't have a partner already? Looking like the weather is finally going to start to take a turn for the better

Do you know if they stocked the fish yet?

yes, stocked and open to fishing if you can find open water.

I'm pretty sure I'm fishing with Peter, he needs tires for his trailer before he gets his boat out

You can always buy my other boat

How did they stock it if it was frozen?

Provided the weather is alright you could even take the 2 man out there  :eyebrows:  I'll check with Jared, I know he doesn't have a partner but I'm not sure he's planning on fishing it either.

I'm guessing the same way Wyco does, back a backhoe down the ramp and knock a hole in the ice and dump the fish in. I got from a reliable source that it is 100% for sure stocked and open as of the 1st though.

Trying to get the day off, but probably won't make it. Would have an open seat if I did. Will let you all know.

I'm out.  Thinly staffed that day, so I'll be stuck in the office.  Hope you guys get some warm weather!

I'm a possible for the 20th depending on the weather. I can go as a  non-boater or a boater if my boat trailer tagged. I sure do love my liberal leave policy at work. :respect-059:

It should be a really good time, especially if you like catching big, hard fighting fish on light tackle  :eyebrows:

I need to get it registered

If you really want to get it registered you can do it at the KC office on 83rd street and K7 in Lenexa. I did that with my John boat and it took me about 10 minutes.

I got mine last winter but I don't know if they mail them out by last name or not like other taxes.
