Lucky Craft Rick Clunn 1.5 series?

Featured Replies

Anyone throw this bait often? Is it worth $15? Seems as if once someone gets over paying the money for one they love them...

In certain situations, yes.  Very well designed bait.

I've thrown all of the RC series and yes they are very good. BPS usually runs a special on them a couple of times of year for $10.00 or so. If I were you though, I would look at the new XCalibur series of shallow cranks. They look just like LC's and are just as good for $7.00. That's what I'm buying now.

I am a cheap SOB, and I have five of them - They are excellent baits.  Durable, great hooks, and they always pull in bass.  It isn't just a dink magnet either like Bandits and Bombers, it'll catch the eye of the big girls.

It's my favorite shallow water crank and I own about 4-5 dozen of the various RC baits with the 1.5 being my overall favorite.

That said Strike King just came out with their square bill which sells in the 5-6$ range. I did throw the Strike King a little this fall and stuck a few fish on them giving me a good first impression, time will tell if it's the real deal like the RC baits.

I'm going to pick a few up soon and check them out. Seems like people who paint custom cranks are always paiting these.

I was throwing a spro little john in the fall and really liked how that felt on rocks/hard bottom areas in the shallows so I didnt mess with to many other styles. So I never got a chance to pick a 1.5 up.

I also threw the KVD square bill a little but didn't get to really mess with it allot. One thing I could tell is it really does have a hunting action, and did well in wooded areas as far as deflection goes.

My go to square bill crankbait!!!!

X2

Also looking forward to the S.K. KVD's and Xcalibers this spring.

They are great shallow cranks, they'll run through some thick stuff and deflect very well.  I've bought many on sale at the $10 price but they are worth the $15 if you do alot of shalow cranking.

My number one crankbait. Not sure how many I own, but more than the wife needs to know about. most of mine were bought over the internet for 8-10 bucks each.

Thats funny im always sneeking in the house with a big ole bag of lures, now the wife just smiles and shakes her head. But she often gets me back when she goes to the mall.

Do you know of any places that still have them for $8.00?

The RC1.5 is the best shallow runner on the market. Watch the classifieds on forums and you'll find a deal on some, you just have to be quick. I will never pay more than $10 for them anymore because of this.

I would agree with that.  I used to have one or two of the LC's because that's all I could afford.  Yes they WERE worth the money, but the Xcalibur is just as good for less than half the price.  LC has some differences in tiny details in the colors, but that hasn't seemed to make any difference for me.

they go on sale at bass pro during the Spring classic in Feb/Mar for $10 or $10.99. Use to go on sale twice a year; Xmas and Spring but no longer. They also have like four brand new colors just hitting the street. Great cranks
