I'm a big fan of straight fluoro and feel I get the same sensitivity with it as I do with a braid. What's everyone else's opinion on this subject matter? I've heard tons of varying opinions but nothing has swayed my belief for this technique yet.

If I am fishing the DS in deep water I go with braid and fluro leader.If I fish it in skinny water to 15 ft then I go all fluro! I think I get more feel wirh braid in deeper water!

I use braid with a 15'-20' leader mainly because braid is much more manageable compared to floro.

Braid with a 4-5' flouro leader.

I don't always dropshot, but when I do, I dropshot with a flouro leader.  Stay manageable my friends.

Since the lake I mainly fish is very grassy and the water clarity varies from murky to stained water. I go with braid and sometimes with a fluorocarbon leader depending on the technique, the cover and, water clarity.

I use a 3-4' leader on a swivel to braid

For my money, braided line is more sensitive and more manageable than fluorocarbon line,

and the fine diameter of braid allows the use of lighter weights, but to each his own.

However, a wiry fluoro or copolymer leader is needed to hold the hooks at right angles to the leader.

Straight fluoro for me. I tried braid with leader. The thing I didn't like was having to retie the leader on the boat. I retie hooks often and had to cut 2' off my leader every time I retied. After 3-4 reties I had to retie a leader. Switched back to straight fluoro and haven't looked back.

I like straight flouro but some pros use braid as it picks up the strikes better.

 

I try to get away with the lightest flouro test as possible.

Gone both ways with equal success on my waters, so whatever floats your boat. For me it's often whichever way I happen to be "lined" on  a particular day or outfit. If it's working for you, why change? Good arguments can be made in favor of either setup.

Most of the time, I'll drop shot into brush in deep water (30-50ft) so I use 40# braid with 25# flouro leader...  as for shallow, flouro unless into heavy brush then solid braid.  So, it just depends on conditions...

Braid and leader - I always use a swivel so why not use a thinner more sensitive main line? No-brainer for me.

While I like the braid to FC leader I fight myself over this all the time mainly because of what you mentioned.  I hate taking the time to tie a leader on the boat during a tournament.  Feels like such as waste of time no matter how good I get at doing it.
