Fish On Bass Anglers 2019 Schedule (MD, NOVA, DC)
For anyone interested in fishing tournaments....this is THE club in Maryland you need to be fishing with. I've been with FOBA for almost 5 years now as a co-angler and soon plan to transition to the boater side sometime early this year. I've learned a ton fishing with the members of this club, and without a doubt I am a better angler because of the guys I've fished with and against. One of the best parts of the club is that we utilize both types of fish weighing procedures: MLF Style and Traditional weigh-in. When the weather is perfect the club tends to utilize traditional weigh-in's whenever possible, and when the sun is blistering we use the MLF Style. FOBA's fish care is second to none, and survival rate is over 99%! Fishing aside, the members of this club are genuinely good people! I've made a lot of friendships since joining this club and routinely hang out with a lot of the members outside of tournaments for sporting events or for fun fishing. Check us out at fishonbassanglers.com ! If you have any questions please reach out to Logan S (post originator and FOBA club President) or myself for more information!

Drop Shot
First and foremost the dropshot technique is extremely underrated and on the toughest days can help to win tournaments. Personally I use mostly 4 - 6 inch roboworms, with the occasional 7 if I'm fishing slightly heavier line and looking for bigger fish. Use your imagination and think outside the box, because there are a number of different plastics you can dropshot with. You can nose hook baits when you fish areas without a lot of timber or cover, but usually i'm texas rigging my worm on a trokar light wire finesse hook. As far as rod/line are concerned I fish a 20 lb main line braid (usually suffix 832) with a 7-8 pound leader most of the time. As for the rod length I like a 6'10" to 7' Medium or Medium Light with a fast or extra fast tip. I've fished a number of rods, but the one I like the most is a Megabass Orochi F3-611XXS. This was a rod designed by Aaron Martens and has everything you will need. I find the best time to fish dropshots are during the hotter days of the spring and summer, but I find even more success with this when confronted with cloudy skys or overcast conditions when fish are not as tight to cover or structure and are roaming. With that being said i have still had great days during blistering hot sunny days when the fish will not bite anything else. Hope this helps!

Smallmouth spots near Howard County, MD?
Your best bet for smallmouth bass in MD would either be the upper potomac or Liberty/Prettyboy. If you have a kayak fish the upper potomac, if not and you are a shore fisherman then go to Lib/Prettyboy. I have been fishing both Liberty and Prettyboy since I was a kid and can tell you there are giant smallmouth bass in both.

Shimano Stradic CI4+...over-rated.
I agree with this. Nothing wrong with the CI4 or CI4+, both are great reels IMO, but I really like the way the Supreme reels handle and even more how much they cost. They are great reels and I've started updating almost all of my spinning outfits with supreme's as well!

Latest Catch Pics Thread
This 4lb 10oz LMB was part of my 17lb 8oz bag that helped me secure my first win as a co . I had my limit by 8:30 am on a dropshot bite that stayed hot throughout the entire morning. It was tough to put it down, but I could not cull out a few of my smaller 14 and 15 inch fish with that technique. I picked up a homemade jig sometime around 11 am and made 3 or 4 critical culls including the fish in this photo. It was an awesome Saturday!

What's the handle length like on this? I see your OG post states that the handle is short but from other pictures of this rod I've seen it seems pretty lengthy?

Finesse Buzzbait
War Eagle is my jam, but are we talking about a finesse profile or is it a 1/8 oz head on a normal sized wire? I'm looking for a smaller one that I would probably throw on spinning gear when the bite gets tough.

Finesse Buzzbait
As far as I know that is the case. I can't seem to find them anywhere except maybe Ebay now.

Finesse Buzzbait
Looking for a finesse buzzbait with a quality hook. I know terminator baits used to make one called a Tiny T-buzz which I wish they still made, because they were fantastic. Only other one I have found is the Strike King mini pro buzz, but the hook type is not listed. I assume it is a mustad, but I'm not sure.

Costa Glasses
Just recently purchased the 580G Silver Mirror Cortez and they are fantastic lenses. I spoke with a number of people at Costa and all suggested the Silver Mirror as the best "all around" lens. As someone who recently swore by Oakleys for the longest time (will never go back) I don't have an opinion on the green as I have never tried them out before, but I know a couple guys who have both silver mirror and green lenses on their boats for different purposes.

Mde Middle River Fish Kill Findings
Just in case anyone on here hasn't seen this ridiculous conclusion. I could go off on a political rant right now, but I'm just disgusted. There is no way this was the result of an "algae bloom" in November. http://news.maryland.gov/mde/2015/12/07/algae-produced-toxin-found-to-be-cause-of-middle-river-fish-kill/

The Miserable Short Life Of The Senko
Agreed, if you are using an O-ring you can get them to last longer. I'm talking strictly about texas rigged.

The Miserable Short Life Of The Senko
As MidwestF1sh mentioned in this comment nothing compares to the original GYCB senko. Years ago i tried different brands to cut down on cost, but the senko shimmies unllike any other brand (it's why they cost so much and a lot of colors are usually out of stock most places). It's been said before, but the statement "Often imitated, never duplicated" was probably meant for GYCB senko. You just have to understand that when you throw them you are basically trying to catch one fish per bait. Sometimes you might get lucky and catch 2, but rarely have I ever had a senko last 3 plus fish.

Favorite Spinnerbait Skirt And Blade Colors
War Eagle Mouse Colored in either 1/2 ounce or 3/8. Best crappie imitator I've ever seen in spinnerbait form. I've caught so many 4-5 pound fish on this color it's crazy.
