  1. Ok so from the comments it does seem like you can actually you baitcasting gear for this lure. I was honesty worried that a lot of guys were throwing it on spinning gear because of it's weight.
  2. I've seen these work with great success on some of the tidal waters I fish in Maryland. Anyone have recommendations for rod and reel setup to throw these? They only weigh 1/4 oz which makes it kinda difficult to throw. A 5" senko and a 3/0 or 4/0 hook weigh more than this bait does.
  3. As much as I love the new bug I can't say enough good things about the Gambler Little Otter and Ugly Otter. These have flat out caught a ton of fish for me.
  4. Zoom Plastics, Rage Tail Plastics, Crankbaits.....you can NEVER have enough crankbaits haha
  5. I think he meant Med Light because I don't even know if Powell makes a light rod. I don't own one but based on previous powell baitcast rods I own they all have amazing action, are super sensitive, and are very light. I'm sure you won't be let down by buying one. I plan on buying many more powell endurance rods.
  6. It's just going to depend on your home water. You have to let the fish tell you what they want. For me I've always done well on a green pumpkin senko with either purple flake or purple and green flake.
  7. A couple easy steps to walk a frog: 1. give the frog some slack in your line when you twitch your rod tip 2. trim the legs a little 3. practice 4. practice 5. practice 6. repeat steps 3 to 5 for as long as it takes lol. Trust me it's not something you can just do. It takes some time to get the hang of it!
  8. Junebug colored zman turbo crawz or a plum colored rage tail. There are a ton of different trailers you could use honestly.
  9. wow good stuff, wish they had that at mine lol
  10. Just racked up some great deals at my local Dick's in Westminster, MD. They had Arashi Squarebills and Deep Divers at a Buy 1 Get 1 Deal which was awesome and I picked up like 10. They also had a great deal on Yamamoto hardbaits at a Buy 2 Get 1 Free Deal, and they had Strike King hard baits at 20% off and Rapala at 20% off as well. Check it out and stock up guys! These kind of deals are hard to beat!
  11. I couldn't agree with the statement more. Don't get me wrong I love Rage plastics just as much as the next guy but for durability they are terrible. With that said I would also add that Zoom plastics are some of the best on the market in addition to the ones you have listed for price.
  12. Honestly I have found that your success rate for landing fish dramatically decreases if the fish is able to jump. Now sometimes it just isn't possibly to keep the fishing from jumping but try and keep your rod tip as close to the water as possible once you have have a fish on a hardbait such as a rattle trap or crankbait. When the fish jumps they are getting a big advantage over you because your line will more often times than not get slack in it.
  13. Trust me they will still hit it! Just need the right bait and presentation
  14. Sounds like you are pretty in line with what you should be doing. Always go with your gut first and foremost. You could also try swimming a jig, this has always worked for me in stained water especially during or after rain. Just make sure it's a dark color or has some chartreuse.
  15. Honestly the spybait needs to sink in order to be effective. The bradi to fluoro leader will hinder the action it is supposed to have. Try going with straight 6 or 8 pound fluoro instead.

If they were able to replicate the searching action of the wart I would jump all over these!
  17. Saw this last night on D&M's facebook page right before I passed out. Immediately got up, got online, and ordered another 10 lol. D&M Piranha's "were" the best on the market. This is why Zman is redoing it's patents. During a bunch of early season tournaments in both BASS and FLW guys were destroying fish on the D&M chatterbaits. Clearly this made Zman a little unhappy because the blade design was close to theirs. It's pretty comical as far as I'm concerned because a zman chatterbait can't even come close to the detail and components put into a D&M! Hopefully if they choose to redesign the bait it will be just as good.....but I wasn't willing to take the chance last night when I saw this lol.
  18. Even though I'll pretty much only use Siebert from this point forward I have heard good things about the DB Structure Jigs.
  19. The past two times I have forgotten my scale. Both times I have caught my second largest and largest bass of the season. The first I have estimated at about 6+ and the second was easily over 7. It's just annoying that I won't know the exact weight of either fish
  20. I'll be the first to say these will not last long. The fish in the reservoirs, ponds, and rivers I fish destroy them, which is awesome, but on the other hand you tend to go through more than you anticipate. I've lost legs on these after one fish which really sucks. I've yet to try the zman but I have heard good reviews about them since they are elaztech and obviously float as well. You will probably need some sort of weighted hook to throw them on. Let me know how they turn out should you choose to buy some.
  21. No I'm simply referring to fishing laydowns and bushes not hydrilla or matted veg.
  22. Yeah that's what I use for flippin primarily. For you personally which style of offset trokar do you use? It seems out of their three designs there isn't a great difference. Do you prefer the magworm, ewg, or magworm barb ewg? I've had good success using the ewg with a number of soft plastics but haven't really worked them much with large worms up until now when I am thinking about making a change.
  23. Do you use it for both pitching/flipping and also for working offshore structure?
  24. Recently I've been fishing giant worms since it's that time of the year, whether it's flipping to shallow cover or dragging it across the bottom in 25+ feet of water. I've caught a couple nice fish using this technique so far this year but have noticed my hook up ratio decline. My question is this: should I opt to use a straight shank hook for flipping to shallow cover, and when fishing deep use a larger 4/0 or 5/0 offset hook? I'm trying to figure out where the issue is in my technique. I know it's not my hookset or my equipment (other than possibly the hooks i'm choosing to use). I should also note that I've been primarily using a 5/0 Straight Shank hook.
  25. Can't go wrong with: -GYCB Swim Senkos (after you take about an inch or so off the front) -Rage Tail: Menaces, and Rage Craws -Gambler TZ's and Little EZ's -Zoom: Fat Albert Twin Tails, Fat Albert Grubs -Z-man Turbo Craws These are just a few of the ones I use, but there are endless combinations with swim jigs. As long as the plastic has some action to it and you are matching the forage size and color you shouldn't have any issue putting fish in the boat.
