  1. Haven't tried Siebert yet but D&M Custom Baits Piranha Swim Jig gets my vote. It's the most highly detailed and well crafted chatter I have ever used!
  2. Well if and when one of mine breaks I won't be mad either because they have all lasted for a long time. Top notch spinners!
  3. I'll agree that I think this is cheating, and furthermore I will say that I have read more into this story and now believe that he definitely deserves whatever punishment comes his way if what is being said is true. You can't just take someone else's fish (which wasn't the record) and claim it's your own. Footnote: In addition to the reading on this subject matter I came across articles that he has killed some of his trophy catches which I wasn't previously aware of and definitely don't support. Conservation is key in this sport and in order to pass on our resources, specifically the species of bass and trophy bass for future generations we need to ensure the survival of giant SM and LM. Pretty ticked of reading about this.
  4. There are a couple different opinions on this topic. I've followed Mike on facebook for some time, he had a status up last night explaining his side of this (not just the writers out there bashing him), but has since taken it down. I believe he may be seeking legal action in regards to this matter because these writers are slandering his name with untruthful information. Just remember there are two sides to every story, make sure you hear them both before passing judgement.
  5. Congrats man, nothing like your first jig fish!
  6. I was in a small john boat on a private pond that is known for holding bass 5+ with some exceeding 7. I was with my buddy and we were positioned just slightly outside of a submerged group of trees. I had my spinnerbait literally 1 foot from the boat when a 7+ destroyed it. I was slowly working him around the boat when I realized we were drifting too close to the trees. My friend (who was manning the trolling motor) was in the process of tying on another bait when I saw the bass swim towards a tree limb and.....pop my line. Easily my worst day of fishing. That bass still haunts me today because it might be the biggest in the pond. To make matters worse 5 minutes later I saw him jump out of the water trying to dislodge my spinnerbait from his mouth.
  7. Folks if your spinners are breaking than you need to switch to War Eagle spinnerbaits. Don't get me wrong I've heard the saying that thinner wire spinners are the best and have the best vibration but I've caught TONS of 1-7 pounders on my War Eagles and have NEVER had one break on me. Yes they bend, that's what spinners will do from time to time. Just bend it back in place with the War Eagle and it works just like brand new. I've had Terminator, Booyah, and Strike King but nothing compares to War Eagle for the price.
  8. After doing some additional research it seems that a number of people suggest the Plano Custom Divider 3771 and 3770 series. I'm probably going to buy a few from TW and see how they perform. I'm just getting so many plastics now that binders and bags won't work. I like to be organized on and off the water.
  9. What's everyone's brand preference and model boxes for storing soft plastics? I currently keep most of mine in their bags but it's becoming quite annoying and I find that having them in boxes will be much easier so I can organize by type and color. Also, I do not plan on storing them in gallon size ziplock bags so please don't suggest that. All opinions are welcome, thanks!
  10. 10 New Jigs and a couple of packs of Rage Tail Bugs ordered! Siebert Outdoors has great pricing! I'll probably buy my jigs exclusively from Siebert from this point forward!
  11. Because with a squarebill you want to speed up your retrieve just a little. The 5:4:1 is a great ratio for say a deep crank or a deep spinnerbait where you want to: a. reduce the amount of torque and fatigue on you or b. stay in the strike zone longer. Hope this helps!
  12. ^This. Absolutely agree.
  13. I have an entire box filled with Spro, personally it's all I use. They are super durable and I have caught a ton of fish on them. Best colors are easily killer gill, midnight walker, and putty black. If you are just getting started frog fishing make sure you are using a heavier mono or for best results braided line on a medium heavy or heavy 7 foot rod with a fast gear ratio reel. Best of luck!
  14. Is Zoom's "Red Bug" color a variation of Plum or Plum Apple?
  15. SpotSticker Ball Jig Head Wide Gap 4/0. You can buy these in packs of 25 and I've never had any problem with them.
  16. Usually I still with 3/8oz and 1/2oz spinners. Couple these with a decent sized trailer and you shouldn't experience any issues throwing into the wind. Obviously on windier days stick with 1/2oz.
  17. Has anyone used these particular hooks for dropshot? What's your hookup ratio and have you had any issues with the hooks bending or breaking? Thanks!
  18. Who makes these?
  19. Anyone have a personal preference on what type of sharpies or markers to use to add some coloration or minor changes while on the water? I've been seeing guys make changes to cranks but I'm unsure of what they're using and what truly lasts/works for a decent amount of time before coming off of the bait.
  20. ^^ This too, not sure how I left out Rapala lol
  21. It's hard to beat cranks made by Strike King, Bagley, and Bandit for their price point. I have caught tons of fish on each of these brands and I'm sure any other user on here would say the same.
  22. Thanks for the input guys, based on everyone's opinion I don't see it being a problem on baitcasting gear. Can anyone recommend some shakey heads in bulk for baitcasting gear? Usually when I throw them it's 3/16 oz jig heads and spinning gear.
  23. I primarily throw shakey heads on spinning gear but wanted to see how many of you throw them on baitcasting gear and to what success. I have not yet tried this technique on baitcasting gear but have heard it works just as well if not better especially around cover.
  24. Hey guys, recently I've been using the air craw as a killer shakey head bait with great results, granted the bait usually only lasts about 3 fish but it's well worth it for the price in my opinion. Has anyone had success flipping this bait at all? I have yet to try it rigged this way on a small straight shank hook.
  25. As far as my personal favorites for price and durability I'm a huge fan of dirty jigs for swim jigs, booyah for flippin, and bass patrol for football style. I've never tried Siebert or Northstar but from the reviews on here you probably won't go wrong with either. Separate question: for those of you who produce your own jigs what would you recommend to someone looking to get into it as a hobby? What brand skirt expander, jig material, banding, basic jig heads, etc? In addition would I need to buy a spray gun to paint the jig heads or can you buy them pre painted? Thanks!
