I don't use Flukes a lot, but some. In one small lake that I fish the bass jump all over them but otherwise I don't do very well with them. I think it just might be a confidence thing because I am not really satisfied with what they are doing. I fish them weightless and they sink so very slow and if you get them down a little, a few twitches and they are right back on the surface or jumping out of the water. They seem to never be more than a few inches deep. I don't use a hard jerk, but rather short, gentle twitches. I know you can weight them but I think this kills the action that they are noted for. I just wonder if there is a heavier, salt impregnated soft jerk bait that will fish a little deeper and still have good action. Are Flukes really the best soft jerk bait or do you prefer others?

This year i plan on buying a good lot of super flukes and using them a lot. To weight them down, I'm gonna buy some nail weights. Also I'm gonna buy some sworming hornets, they are a jighead with a willow blade underneath the jig.

Strke King Caffiene Shad has a good sinkrate.

Z-Too is very durable but stays near the top.

Yum Houdini Shad and BPS Shadee Shad are good options also.

X3 on the finishing nails.  I love the fluke and when I need a little deeper, I just put a nail in it.

Weighting the shank of the hook (or using hooks that come with weight already attached) work just fine - it doesn't kill the action like you would think.

I like the Powerbait Jerkshad.

I use a little 1/16th ounce worm weight and it doesn't take any of the action away and it sink a lot faster.

I have a couple of these baits and they are really amazing with tremendous action.

As for a recommendation on a fluke style bait, take a look at the V&M Hula Shad. Gives the fish the fluke look with a little twist.

It wont walk the dog like a super fluke does but it still has a nice glide and the skirt really draws some attention. It's almost like a tube.

That is a good looking bait, looks just like a gizzard shad. The video shows how to rig it and the guy catches a nice striper, but doesnt show the action of the bait. Guess I'll have to buy a pack to see that.

The super fluke is a fish catching machine for anyone who takes time to use it properly. It is best in clearer waters around cover particularly when the bass are beginning to look for beds thru the warm weather months. It's very quiet and natural looking so that's why is shines in clear environs. A great dock bait when fish suspend in fall, and an amazing big smallie bait all thru the warm weather season in moving water and in clear lakes when the fish are 10 feet or less. Only two colors truly needed: all white and watermelon (and many dip the tails in chartreuse dye).

Most fishing is done just with a 4/0 or 5/0 EWG hook, but the nail and even a split shot crimped on about 10 inches ahead of the bait gives it a real cool action. Some use the double fluke rig also with great results. To all those who don't like the fluke, you should have been fishing with me the last decade.

I throw it on a spinning setup fine. I couldn't tell you about the baitcaster because I don't have one yet  :-/

I tried it the first time and caught my biggest Bass yet and I used it on a baitcaster. It was the white ice Zoom.

Gander Mtn makes a Fluke that falls pretty quick and is pretty heavy so you can cast it a ways..

I am going to try and work on throwing the donkey rig with 2 flukes this year.  Bass Assassins are a favorite of mine as well.

Baitcaster, and the fluke might be the easiest bait of all- time to skip.  Chuck that baby 30 feet under low hanging trees.  Try it.
