Curiosity Question

It's a no for me because you would probably kick the bucket after you caught the fish. Some people live to fish but I fish to live and those genies are tricky. I was in a cave one time and found an old lamp. I rubbed it and a genie came out and said I will grant you 3 wishes but your ex-wife will get double what you get. I said I'd like a new car, the ex-wife got 2 new cars. I said I'd like 1 million dollars the ex-wife got 2 million dollars. I thought about the 3rd with and said I'd like to be scared half to death.........

I love this forum!

It reminds me of a story my grandfather told me. A guy dies and doesn't know whether he ended up in heaven or hell. He's walking along the shoreline of this pristine lake and he comes upon an angler. He starts watching this dude and on every cast the guy is catching a 10 pound plus hawg! The observer exclaims "I am in heaven!" The angler turns to him and says, "I catch the fish of a lifetime on every cast. This is hell."

Ha, I got all Confucius on you!

I would make the cast and catch the largemouth of a lifetime, and then move to Lake Erie.

There's a problem with this scenario.  For those who said "no" you would not make that cast, you'd have to quit fishing.

I didn't see anything about the genie granting a wish.  The genie made a prophecy.

It wouldn't matter if your next cast took place immediately after the prophecy, or the next day, or the next month.  The only way not to make your next cast is to never cast again.

I'd make the cast, and tell the genie to stuff it.

this is how i interpreted it as well. i would make the cast because im not going to quit fishing.

Thats a hard one, id say no just **** cat said i enjoy the hunt for that fish and the pther side of not knowing when or if iys going to happen.

No cast, Im only 28 I would not want to go the rest of my life knowing I have already caught the one.

Does this mean you wouldn't want to catch the world record then either?

I would turn on the video, then I would go ahead and catch it.

Since the question doesn't state that I made the wish I would make that cast right after I turned the GoPro on. He's just telling you how awesome you are.

Since the genie didn't pose any caveats, I'd definitely go for it. What's there to lose? There's nothing that says you can't continue to pursue "the second biggest fish of your lifetime" afterwards. And it isn't always about the size of the fish anyway.

I would pick up a dropshot rod 7' ML/F with 6 lb floro and a 1/0 finesse hook and at least make it a fair fight, oh and yes the camera would be rolling...

Not taking the cast means you stop fishing.  Um ... yeah I would take it and the next one, and the next one ...
