Rapala Scatter Raps

Featured Replies

I have an opportunity to pick up a bunch of these but I'm not sure they are really worth the money. Has anyone out there have any experience or opinion on these and if so would you be willing to share such information with me here, thank you.

Good luck and be safe...

I like the Shad Rap much more than the Scatter Rap. They have been totally ineffective for me, and I regret buying the quantity I bought.

It's just another lure, it's not special nor will it jump ahead of the pack, if anything pick some up in your favorite colors and try them out.

They're worth a try, but they are towards the bottom of my list of favorite Rapala lures.

I bought one scatter rap and will never buy another one again EVER! all they do is spin and constantly foul up I tried numerous different things to get that bait to run right and couldn't get it work properly. Rapala makes good lures though there shad raps are amazing and the DT series of crank baits are great!

I bought a few as soon as they came out last year or whenever. I did catch quite a few fish on them and never had a probablem with the blowing out or fouling up. My biggest problem with them was the quality of materials was not very good. Lips would crack first time it ever came in contact with any kind cover.

I've had very good success with them. The only Rapala bait I'll spend my money on other than the Shad Rap. Never had a problem with them rolling or spinning out. They seem to shine for me in more open water situations where other cranks might not produce as well.

I also like them ALOT. Caught alot of fish for me last year.

I am hard on cranks and constantly crash them into docks. Never had a lip fail.

I like the crank model in Bluegill.

Dont troll or reel to fast.

I don't fish anything but the minnow and shad scatter rap.  I had no luck with the crank.  I don't fish countdowns, so yeah.

Its not a gimick. It is proven (especially in open water) that an erratic "hunting" action in a crank triggers strikes.

Thats why people pay $20+ for the old Pre-Rapala Wiggle Warts.

I didn't use them a whole lot this year, but I did have some success with them. I didn't have any issues with them as far as action or durability. Actually looking forward to trying them a little more this year.

I did'nt like the crank that much but I did like the scatter rap countdown. I fished it during a tournament and it worked very well, I caught all my fish that day on it. I used three different retrieves. One was a a jerk bait style retrieve, one was a steady crank bait style retrieve, and the last was a slow steady retrieve almost like a spybait. In all cases I used my graph to figure out the depth the fish were at and then "counted" the lure down to that spot. I liked that the lure did'nt snag up a lot and had good versatility.

IMO they run like a broken crankbait. I didnt like it. Ill make due with my trusty squarebills :respect-059:

They catch fish well and run true on a slow steady retrieve with a SLOW speed reel. I like them when there isn't much cover to deflect off of.
