What Is The One Thing You Absolutely Hate About Fishing?

I've owned my 18' LOWE for 10 years now, but once I get in a crowd at the ramp, I turn into that ramp rookie all over again.  If nobody is waiting in line, I hit my trailer right first time, nearly every time.  When guys are waiting to take out, that is when I turn into a klutz as far as getting the boat back on the trailer goes.

I am not a big fan of running my boat in a crowd either.  The last couple of years that I've fished the Wounded Warriors tournament at Truman Lake, I requested to go last, just so that I wouldn't be worried about some guy in a much faster boat coming up on me from behind.

I have heard some guys say "Wind is your friend."   It has never been a friend of mine.

  • Only 2 things ~ and they both revolve around Old Mr. Northern Pike.   1).  When you get the strike and you set the hook, and the rod hits you right in the face - because a darn snot rocket has bitte

What do I hate about fishing?

Nothing. OK, maybe a couple things....

I don't enjoy the people that seem to think the boat ramp is where you should do all the little things like get your rods ready, Move your gear into your boat, etc etc. I mean you've been in line for 20 minutes, what the heck is wrong with you?

I had a guy who was trolling for Walleyes all over this area in no discernible pattern and I pulled up about 300-400 yards away from him to cast into some weeds. He then comes by about 15 minutes later and was upset that I was in his area.I told him I was trying to stay away from him. I mean there was a very shallow weed island between him and I when I first pulled up.. And then he turns quickly into my path and gets more irate. Mumbled something about me not knowing what I was doing. I was on the trolling motor and he was on the big motor. It was comical.

When it's windy, I usually either anchor on a windswept point or get out of the wind. Granted, I don't like fishing in the wind but I deal with it. I just don't get to pick the days I can fish so I deal with what I have.

The gloomy ride home after getting skunked.

Drunk wake boarders and those idiots on jet skies.

Wind is definitely something I hate. Also, waking up early to go fishing. I'm a man who enjoys his sleep.

Missing the only bite of the day.

SKUNKED!!

Not being able to fish for 6 months of the year.

The fact that The State of Michigan makes you wait at least until the end of April to Bass fish!!

Cold weather.

I love heat and the summer is great.

But I hate cold weather and I hate to fish in cold weather.

Outrages ramp fees (hope springs marina) and wind absolutely hate it makes boat control extremely hard. There is no such thing as a light wind on Anna its either no wind or blow you across the cove in 30 seconds lol

I fish a lot of local/private ponds most of the time without permission. I practice catch and release on ALL fish in this situation, aviod people's property and keep to myself. Yet, people still will come down and kick me out, even go as far as to call the cops.

That ticks me off more than ice.

All my fishing spots being taken... getting skunked

That period of time from when the boat leaves the water till it goes back into the water!

Seriously?  The nerve of them!    :rolleyes7:        I had to read that twice to make sure I read it right the first time.

Nascar2428, This year it isn't the state of Michigan that going to stop you, it's going to be the 24" of ice.
