Monofilament is not very sensative so you will be looking at your line for bites. Braid is much more sensitive so you will feel bites much better. Just get use to using it and soon you won't even need to look at your line.

Love fishing them in the morning and at night. Wind just picks up to much at my lake to use em during the day.

Bass season FINALLY arrived so I headed up to Balsam Lake to nail some smallies. Caught a good number of fish theses being the best. By far my best season opener I've ever had and first season opener I've fished on Balsam. Also have never caught a SMB on opener day so I feel I'm off to a great start!

Only R2S lure I've used is the Bubble Popper and it is SWEET. Good action and nice components. If the lipless is built like the popper ill buy one for sure. Just going to wait for some reviews.

Get in a tournament and try a wider variety of baits/techniques, just opened my order with lots of dropshot stuff in it!

I'm running 15lb braid instead of 20lb with the 8lb leader. 20lb braid would work though!

It's a good rod, but as mentioned, not for smaller light crankbaits.

Idk about Cuba, but live shrimp under a popping bobber worked well for me in Florida. Also, these green tube like bait work sweet for barracuda but we were sight fishing them. You need to burn this thing really fast and the cudas will nail it. Asking people at public piers and at bait shops is a great way to find info. Good luck!

You will never get an acceptable answer for this question. Even if you asked what one is better everyone will have an opinion. They all cast fine, its not like one of them is garbage. They are all quality reels and will all perform well. As others have said, pick the one that feels comfortable in your hands.

Sorry to hear about being robbed. Pflueger President with a Fenwick HMG is a nice combo for a sweet price. Will run you only $160, but there are many other options for the $250 budget. Maybe a good condition used Shimano Stradic FJ or CI4 and your choice of $100-$120 rod. Buying slightly used with a $250 budget will go along way.

I started fishing on a silver with green striped Little Cleo spoon. Johnson spoons produced well for me also.
