My biggest is a 20lb salmon. Second biggest is a 15lb Bonita (tuna family) which was a big one for that species. Used it as bait and my brother caught a 200lb+ Goliath Grouper. Hopefully I''ll hit triple digits this year in FL!

M should be fine as you are not doing any deep cranking. I throw the baits you mentioned fine on a M St. Croix Premier Cranking rod. Make sure the action is Moderate though. Forgot to mention welcome to Bass Resource!

Welcome to BR! It would help to know the taper on the rods to determine the uses (Fast, Extra Fast, Moderate). For example a 7' MH XF would work well for jigs, but if it was moderate, it would be a crank bait rod. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/130634-rod-selection-the-basics/is a good topic to read on rods.

What is the action on your rod? A 7'6'' Heavy F or XF should be perfect for flipping.

I don't know if you all do this but I find it helpful to create my shopping cart with my fishing partner. They may be able to spot gleaming holes in your tackle, or remember baits and colors that worked in a previous trip/tourney that you have forgot about. Just a trick I use, 2 brains are better than one! Keep this in consideration as Black Friday approaches!

Saw one on a WFN infomercial. Its a soft swim bait where you stick scent sticks and lights up in it. Not saying it doesn't work, I just don't buy stuff from infomercials...

I'm looking to order some more hard baits and stumbled across the Daiwa DB minnow. Good looking bait for $7. Has anyone used this bait and is it a good bait? Also is the Baker Lures Suspending Jerk Bait a good bait for $7 also? Thanks
