What Is The One Thing You Absolutely Hate About Fishing?

Featured Replies

When the river is flooded and I keep losing lures in the newly submerged riprap.

This happened to me about 15 times Saturday. When the water goes back down someone is going to hit the jackpot on second hand lures.

I have heard some guys say "Wind is your friend."   It has never been a friend of mine.

  • Only 2 things ~ and they both revolve around Old Mr. Northern Pike.   1).  When you get the strike and you set the hook, and the rod hits you right in the face - because a darn snot rocket has bitte

I fish a lot of local/private ponds most of the time without permission. I practice catch and release on ALL fish in this situation, aviod people's property and keep to myself. Yet, people still will come down and kick me out, even go as far as to call the cops.

That ticks me off more than ice.

Reminds of a post from a year ago. Lol

I'm going to rephrase what you said.

I committ the crime of trespassing and wildlife fishing violations at local ponds. I rationalize my crimes by being courteous to people's homes, keeping to myself, and practicing catch and release on fish that aren't rightfully mine in the first place. Despite my efforts to committ my crimes while remaining courteous, the property owners still come down and check with me, and ask me to leave. On some occasions these people contact law enforcement to report me and talk to me. This is preposterous.

I just changed the words, but that's pretty much what you said.

And for your information, we dont post things on this site that are illegal.

Winter and idiots that think they own the lake

Great thread! Hate is a strong word, but I certainly dislike a lot of things WHEN I'm fishing!

Waiting until the end of June to fish for bass

Losing lures

Mosquitoes

I know that it's not fair to say because my enjoyment of the lake shouldn't be more important than others, BUT I really dislike all the pleasure boats and jet skis that fly up and down where I'm trying to bank fish. The entire Lake Ontario is out there, but you HAVE to do donuts and yell and scream RIGHT HERE by the shore!?!

This is something I hope not to be the case very soon, but currently I use inflatable boat and I just hate setting it up and taking it down spending 30 +/- minutes each. I'm happy with the boat itself, but just too much work for just 'a tool' for fishing.

PWC's and the idiots on them.

Fools at the ramp who take way too much time entering and leaving.

PWC's and the idiots on them.

x2

They have the whole lake to play on but now they are running up the old river and creeks that feed the lake and I hate it'

Wind! Nothing ticks me off more than a windy day while I'm trying to fish. And getting skunked of course. But I would kill the wind if I had the chance.

Wind is your friend when it comes to Bass fishing...  Stop fighting it and hiding from it. Strong wind creates currents in the water that push around bait fish.  The bass know this and are using it to their advantage, so should you.  Light wind disrupts the fishes ability to see you.  Its better to have wind than not have wind especially in clear or shallow waters.

Got him! And are you talking about that golf course thread? Lol

I think the absolute worst IS the idiot in the fancy 200 HP ski boat that thinks that the spot you are fishing on is his personal ski area. I have had them come within 50 feet of my boat and then have the balls to wave, like he's my friend or something. IDIOT he is

It drives me nuts in the spring when a cold front comes through.  I hate it when the high temp on Sat. or Sun. is in the 30's after being in the 50's and 60's all during the workweek.
