Why Did The Veritas Drop To$80?

Featured Replies

I have never fished a veritas and probably never will but, why did the drop to $80?

I love my Veritas, I'm assuming Abu is going to be releasing a new rod, which is why the Veritas dropped, but who knows.  Im about to buy another or two since it dropped.

I am assuming to clear out as much of the current stock before releasing a new generation. There was a Facebook picture floating around of the deck of Ike's boat at the classic. Several unlabled, unkown white rods were on the deck....could be the new Veritas in pre-production from. I paid the full $99 price for all mine, I wish I would have waited LOL.

Because they are going to come out with the veritas 2, according to Bobby Lane.

But isn't the vendetta 79? Why have two rods in the same price range?

New ones will probably have the 3m resin pure fishing bought out

Just echoing the others prob trying to clear them out for new rods to come out.

From a business standpoint, $80 is a less competitive price-point these days.

Any chance you could post that picture? I would love to see what they look like. I will probably buy a few of the Veritas rods now that they are only 80

Picked one up for the wife this weekend. Picked up a carbonlite for myself

I'm curious as to how much the new Veritas will cost. I thought $99 was a great price for that rod...

He shows one on this Tackle Warehouse video they put up last week.  He first picks it up around the 1:58 mark...then holds it up at around 2:48

I picked up an Abu Garcia Vertias paired with a Quatum Smoke spinning reel for 120 on craigslist!! What a deal I have the same smoke spinning reel, mines a 25 and this is a 30, and the reel alone costs $160.

Got to love Craig's list when I talked to the guy, after I had the rod and reel in my possession of course (even gave me the box and receipt showing he paid $260 for everything), he said he is a salt water guy an his ex girlfriend got him this combo so that's why he was getting rid of it.

I laughed and told him of he has any other fishing things that his ex or any future exs get him shoot me a text lol

To throw out a guess, I'd say Abu has something new coming at a middle price point between $99 & $149, so the Veritas & Vendettas move down from their current price points to fill in the gaps. For example, St. Croix, a very popular rod in this forum has a few models between $99 & $149, as does BPS and Diawa.

I bought my Veritas for $72 shipped from Walmart a couple years ago :)
