Front Blade On Spinnerbait Won't Spin

Featured Replies

Terminators used to be my favorite spinnerbaits. However I've noticed their newer ones in the double willow models, the front blade (the one on the clevis) often does not spin consistently or won't spin at all. Is there any way to fix this? Say change the clevis to one that is more loose?

Without having it in my hand or watching it in the water, there is no way of knowing for sure what is wrong.  I have had spinner baits (not Terminator) that a blade will sometimes catch on the skirt.  I just spread the wires a little bit and it was okay.  This usually happened, for me, from using it a lot.

I think you are on the right track with the clevis, I've had to pinch or expand them on occasion to get them so the front blade spins freely. If I can't adjust it to spin freely and I still like the bait, I'll just clip it off and remove the blade.

Take a look at the clevis itself. I'm guessing the one on there is a little out of shape. If the "C" shape of it is opened up too far or in too tight it will cause it to rub and not spin correctly. Try adjusting it with some needle nose. If that doesn't work, contact customer service. I'm sure they'll swap it out for you.

Used to do this to buzzbaits to make them get that squeak. We would tie one to the antenna to break the blade in might get some crazy looks from other people though

I hope you are able to fix what you have, but for your next purchase give htr

StrikeBack from MegaStrike a try. There is nothing out there quite like these

spinnerbaits.

You could try chageing it to a smaller front blade. Just tinker with it. Never had that problem on spinner baits. But some buzz baits for me give me trouble. And i hold out,the window to getting squeaking
