Rapala Dt6 Fluke

Featured Replies

I picked this guy up at Dick's today. I'm sure it happens once in a while and not sure how it'll affect the action but I'll find out when I get to Kissimmee.

What are we supposed to be looking at?

Never seen one with only one sure set hook. Was it supposed to be a sure set model?

I remember a few years back i stopped at a tackle store and found a whole section of DTs with that hook, but they were red. I picked one up, but don't know what happened to it. I don't think its a manufacturing error.

I thought this was going to be about the Classic as was getting ready for a debate. Looks like someone grabbed the wrong hook, but I doubt you'll notice any difference in action.

Per Rapalas website they come with a rear sureset hook. Will not affect action and is supposed to get the short strikes or slaps. I've found that Dicks sometimes gets baits that might be different than normal but they are usually marked down.

All of mine look exactly like that.

I'm retarded. Got the two rapala posts confused.  That rear hook is normal.  DTs have had rear sures-sets for a while.  They've returned to normal hooks for 2014.

By the title i was hoping to read that Rapala had teamed up with Zoom and made some crazy bait hahaha.

I thought I had gotten some kind of mistake from the factory the first time I got one like that too :laughing7:

They shipped with both front and rear hooks with suresets for a while. Clearanced those (2.99 a piece at GM for a while.) And started shipping with just a rear sure set. Now they went back to normal both front and back.

Yeah, I was expecting a fluke bait, with a bill..

Nope, I just picked up a few at BPS last weekend and that is the standard hook

Rapala is using.

I guess it's a random thing. My DT6 in bluegill that I received from TW last week didn't have the sureset hook.

The DT's used to come in what they called the Sure Set series featuring both front and rear sure set trebles. They decided to go down to just one treble, I'm assuming because the baits would be slightly more prone to hanging up with one on the front as well. This year they just have normal treble hooks. The sure set hook will not throw off the action at all and I actually really like having them on there. I've caught some fish I know I wouldn't have had I been using regular hooks.

whether it is a gimmick or not I dont know....... but the sure set hook was what drew me to Rapala in the first place.

I guess this shows you how long it's been since I bought or payed attention to the series. Last time I purchased them they were all regular style hooks.

I wonder how many DT-6's have been dug out of the clearance bin and put back at full price since the classic lol

i personally don't care for the sureset hook.  seems like it would be weaker (?)

i swapped all mine out for Gammy hooks as soon as i got them.

if anyone wants the suresets i took off...let me know...i'll see how many i have and send them for just the shipping cost.
