St. Croix Avid Series

Featured Replies

Was lookin at these rods and am very interested in the 6'8 casting and spinning and the 7'medhvy xfast. I dont know alot about them was hoping i could get some info on them. like worth $200,light , sesitive, and durable as i try to be carefull with mt rods but you know it happens. I fish Falcon Caras now and have fished other name brand rods. Just wondering how this would compare. Mostly for trig, light jig, dropshot and shaky head. Any help would be great. Thanks for any help.

I have often recommended the AVC68MXF. This is the perfect "all-around" rod.

St. Croix ratings tend to be conservative, meaning their "medium power" is comparable

to G. Loomis "heavy power".

I fish a 7ft MH b/c Avid. Its become my everyday rod and it's great. It's a real workhorse. I have paired with a Lews MG, and both rod and reel compliment each other. This rod also carries St. Croix limited lifetime warranty which is awesome.

Avids are great rods for the money. The are light weight, durable, and come with a great warranty. They are, as RW stated, under rated compared to most rods, meaning the Avid medium is more like other brands MH, or real close to it.

My Avid is a 7' M/F spinning. I love it. Very light and sensitive. And although I try to be careful with it, I can be a little clumsy when dealing with rods sometimes, and so far it has proved to be very durable.

The 6'8" mxf spinning is a great rod. I use mine for plastics.

The Avid line up are all great rods. I wouldn't get up to any heavy actions but everything up to the MHs are great rods.
