Dek-It (Fixed) Or Ram Mount?

Featured Replies

Hey BR,

I have all my wiring done on my boat (thanks to Wayne. P) and wanted to know what you'll prefer for a mount on the bow of your boat. Right now I have the Dek-It and Ram mounts in my possession and I am trying to decide which one to keep. I do love how out of the way everything is with the Dek-It, but the Ram mount mount has a lot more versatility.

Pictures and opinions of your setup would be great! Thanks,

VC

I've got ram mounts.  I'd personally go with it.  You can move it out of the sun much easier.  You've got the double articulating Ram mount right?

Yes, I have the double articulating model. That is a great point about the sun....Do you have yours right in front of the pedal or to the right?

My pedal moves about, I don't have a recessed pan.  It's on the right hand side of the boat though.

I have ram and mounted to the right. I can lower it and center it if I wanted to, it's got the long arm

Personally I'd probably go with the ram mount.

Why not ram mount to the dek-it? seems like it'd be the best of both worlds

I just purchased an HB 859 for my bow and the sales person made a point to explain how the ram mount also works as a shock absorber for the unit. Made a lot of sense to me.

6" ram right in front of the trolling motor pedal.  I like it much better in the center than on the right.
