How Is Bass Pro On Used Reel Exchanges?

Featured Replies

I picked up a Pro Qualifier and a Quantum KVD reel on sale during Christmas. Given my locale, I just now had the chance to fish them. I am extremely happy with my Pro Qualifier purchase. The Quantum, not so much. Cast control and dial-in is horrible on the Quantum. I would like to take it back and pick out another Pro Qualifier. Will they do this? I have returned unused items with no problems but will they take back a used reel?

Thanks!

Probably. It also depends on how "used" the reels is. If it's scuffed up /w any scratches it may be kind of difficult.  I returned a reel that was 5 months old and sat all winter to Cabelas /w no questions asked.

They've taken back used reels for me, but you might want to check if there is a time limit on returns/exchanges

The normal policy is 30 days. Used reels usually aren't taken back unless they are defective, especially past the 30 day mark.

I guess you could always "say" it's defective, but then they "should" tell you to go through Quantum's warranty program.

Your best bet is to go in and be honest and hope that their outstanding customer service makes an exception for you.

I have taken reels back with a simple I didn't like them, and they took them back with a smile.

There is a policy in place, and I stated it correctly.

However, if you catch the right person, their CS can be more than fair. They usually are.

Ive been told 90 days.  But I would agree with above that if you catch the right person, you will be fine.  That is the hard part though, finding the right person. Maybe email the store, the manager will most likely email you back.

Here is the best bet: Make a phone call first, explain to them that you love bps and during the winter picked up 2 new reels on sale. You just used them both for the first time and one of them is great but the other sorely lacking. If the person Says they can't help you then you can always wait some time and call back and talk to a different associate. It's always easier to do a return when u can name an associate that told u the return would be ok.

I think bass pro branded stuff is 90 days, everything else, 30.

U should be able to get in store credit no matter what, as long is the reel is in new condition. Just explain to them your condition, I swear, BPS and Cabelas have the best return program out there

Simple answer is yes, they will take it back. Just state exactly what you said in your post. The phone call, while it seems like a good idea, will always get you the answer, "we'll have to see it first". They want you to be a happy customer.

I believe Bass Pro Stuff is a year long.  I sent an email about the warranty of Falcon Rods and they said 90 days on everything but bass Pro stuff,  Either way, Christmas time is past both 30 and 90 days.  I do think they will take it back though. Bass Pro has good customer service.

BPS is usually great about returns.  Always keep your box and receipt.  If you have those your golden.  Pack it up, take it in and tell them what the problem is.  If it's broke, tell them it's broke.  if you just dont like it tell them you dont like it but there's nothing wrong.  They'll take it back.

Just wondering what kvd reel was it? The model number?

I don't remember what the model was but I picked it up as an after Christmas Promo for Bass Pro. It is one of those KVD promos. It looked identical to the Accurist PT but with a different paint job (Black/Red). I bought myself a PQ and saw the KVD on an end cap. It felt nice in my hand but the tension knob is horrible at holding consistently, both brakes are finicky and I can't cast with it at all. Knowing that I wouldn't get a refund, I was hoping that BP would use it towards an exchange for another PQ.

I ended up going in tonight after work. The CS couldn't have been nicer. I told her my dilemma and she understood as the the ice out here just happened last week. It took her a while to print a receipt from my rewards card but she did and told me to go get what I wanted. They even took my PowerPro Slick off and put on the new reel!

Can't beat customer service like that. I have seen them take back reels that I would have thought, NO WAY. I personally think BPS has exceptional CS. But, having worked there, I may be a little prejudiced.

Awesome! This proves that honesty is the best policy!
